Default What type of Bed Cover?

New F150 and am thinking about a bed cover. I've never had one before. Please tell me the pro's and cons of each type: tri-fold, soft roll-up, hard roll-up, hard one piece, what else? Thanks.

There are so many threads on this already, feel free to search and read the available information.

Here is another good resource that talks about each type of cover.

http://www.cooltruck.com/whats-best-...-of-bed-cover/

We also have vendors on this site that offer outstanding discounts on covers, far below what you will find publicly posted on sites online.

Zach on this site for example gave me a great price on a Bak MX4, one of the most popular covers for the F-150 and I love it so far.

So while you may get some responses here, to say your question has been responded to numerous times already is an understatement, your greatest source of data is to search and read.

It is all personal choice, I have always had soft roll up covers. This truck came with a soft roll up. I plan to swap out to a hard roll up. This truck has a locking tailgate so I can justify it. My old truck did not have a locking tailgate so there was no point. Now if I go with a hard locking retractable I can really have secure bed storage.

I went with and like the Craftec hinged vinyl cover another member here showed me.
I like the easy access of a hinged cover and if I need to it comes off in literally 30 seconds.

I have a BakFlip MX4 and love it. I had a Bakflip VP on my 2013 Platinum and it was absolute garbage. It looked great but It started to bow(de-laminated)and the seams fell apart after 6 months. I called Bak and they offered to replace it no questions asked with whatever I wanted. I went with this one and it turned out fitting my 2016 Lariat perfectly. I'm very happy with my cover.

I also have the BakFlip VP. Mine sagged too but they replaced it even after warranty. I will stay with them, that's for sure.

I prefer ones that I can remove and not have rails attached to my truck.

I have the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 and it's tough. No leaks Great cover at a great price...

Had my revolver X2 for a year and a half. No issues. Zero water unless I spray the tailgate at the car wash, which then I would expect a little at the tailgate. Still loving it.

Oh my... this thread will go on forever....

Soft rollups such as Access line, Truxedo LoPro, etc are great covers and I have had one on all my trucks until recently... A quality version is likely to be 95% water-tight, let you have nearly your entire bed open, lifetime warranty, etc. If you just need to keep water out of the bed this is likely your best solution.

Soft folding covers are similar, difference being you can usually have 2/3 of the bed open without removal. They generally remove easily though.

There are hard rollups like the BAK Revolver X2 and the Truxedo Titanium. These are a hybrid between a soft rollup and a hard covers. I personally have the Titanium now and like it a lot. I can access 99% of the bed while open and still have a hard cover that in my case is almost completely water-tight.

Hard folding covers come in many different models and styles... Some are easy to install and remove like the Extang Solid Fold 2.0, others give you nearly 100% of the bed without removal like the entire BAKFlip line. They range a lot in features and price... These are probably the biggest selling style right now after soft rollups...

I would guess that solid 1 piece covers are among the least popular these days... But if you need to keep the bed dry and security and rarely haul large items where they will be in the way... they are likely the dryest and most secure option.

The thing to remember is... There is no BEST cover for everyone... It really depends on your needs and likes combined with how you use the bed of the truck. Once solution isn't best for everyone...

Hope this helps a little and if I can answer any questions for you or get you any pricing (we offer huge discounts to forum members) please feel free to PM me.
