Default towing in sport mode

Just wondering what is the difference between tow/haul and sport mode on the 6 spd trans. Could a person tow in sport mode? Talking about towing a 7000# RV.

I would advise against doing so unless your wanting to turn your tranny into an easy bake oven. The major difference between the two modes is the amount of time the torque converter remains locked. The torque converter while in tow haul spends less time in the unlocked manner resulting in less generated heat. Sport mode is designed for curvy hill ridden roads for more "spirited" driving. Although they both have several similarities, they each serve a specific purpose.

I've used it a few times pulling my 27ft toy hauler. I find that tow haul helps you stop more efficiently than sport mode (it engine brakes) and holds gears longer/better upon acceleration and going up and down hills. I think I use tow haul more than sport for towing, but you can play around and see what you prefer.

I'm not going to lie, when I bought the truck I didn't realize I had it until 6 months later and now it's a blast when hitting the roundabouts....

I did the same thing with the rear locker. I was reading my window sticker one day and I was like.... um, I have rear locker?? The next time I was out in the hills I pulled the **** out and low and behold! haha, I felt like a dumbass.

I've never towed in sport mode. I'd be afraid of smoking the torque converter, and I love the engine braking.

I tow some just pulling my atv around in sport mode. I don't see why it would hurt anything as the only thing sport mode does is change the throttle angle to rev quicker and holds gears longer. Both tow haul and sport mode engine brake by downshifting so really it isn't all that much different in my opinion.
