Looks like a boxlink key and a spare key.

Agreed that the silver one is likely for your Boxlink unless you have a locking Ford tonneau or something like that. The black one is basically a spare that will unlock the driver door in case your battery is dead. If you already have the remote with the key inside, it's kind of pointless, though.

That being said, it's waterproof so good if you like to do watersports and have your key on you. That way you can lock your fob in your truck inside a tin can or whatever and then use the spare key to open it later on. Again, could be moot if you have the coded button entry but not all trims have that.

I 100% disagree with the 2 comments above. They have no idea what they are talking about.

Just kidding -I 3rd their place in your life.

The black key is probably for the locking cover for the spare tire crank, other may be for lock on spare?

Posts 2 and 3 are on point.

The black key likely locks/unlocks the glovebox too.

The black key is a transponder key. If programmed it will do everything the fob key will except of course the fob functions. If you only got one fob with the truck, it was likely the cheapest way to provide you with a spare key or for the previous owner to replace a lost one. Not a huge issue if you have the keypad panel but otherwise near about useless unless you don't and somehow lock your keys in it.

If the black key opens the door but doesn’t start the truck, it’s a cut key without the chip.

some people hide those outside the vehicle in case they lock themselves out.

then hide a fob inside the truck to be able to start the truck.

this way if someone finds the outside key they have to find the inside key before they can steal the truck.

if the key starts the truck it’s a chipped key. Some people call them valet keys. It’s a key you can give a valet.

if the key doesn’t open the door or start the truck then it isn’t your key.

If they get IN the truck with the physical key AND the fob is hidden "inside the truck", they don't have to FIND it to start the truck. All they have to do is push the button.
