I have a tool box in the bed where I keep all my tools. 3 ton jack, heavy duty jack stands, jumper cables, bag full of tools, two 18" 2x6's, etc... I keep ratchet straps under the rear back seat, an extra phillips and flat head screwdriver in the glove box along with a flash light, and a knife and pistol in the center console.

AFAIK, there is no "handle" on my 502A truck, just a button where the handle would be.

I'll have to check it out, but I'm pretty sure there's no manual backup.

sorry to sound nit picky but those devices seem great but don't often perform.
The cables are just long enough to connect to the battery. Probably 6-8 inches. I could go look but they're short enough to make the size of wire insignifiant. Plus, you're not "cranking" on the new ones like we used to have to do. As for performing I only know my experience has not been a victim of not performing.

Your tailgate doesn't have a handle like in the pic below?

This is my tailgate:

There's nothing to grab. You pretend to grab it, like a regular handle, and push the button on the underside. Unless I'm missing something and there IS a manual handle built into it. I've never noticed.

huh - I sit corrected then. that's like our bit on the exploder - it's a weatherpack button under the lip where the handle should move.

Surely there's some method of popping it with a dead battery, perhaps in the book.

I agree but with a jump pack you can jump yourself. Jumper cables are worthless without someone to jump you.

I have one with an air compressor on it, but I only dropped $85 on mine.

I keep 6 gauge jumper cables, 30' foot tow line, other incidental truck parts and a GLOCK 41... Love my Console Vault, but also love the other capabilities my truck has to help other folks.
