What rear end gear ratio for 2018 3.5 Ecoboost 10 Speed 4x4?

3.55 is perfect

3.31 and I have not seen any better MPG actually less. The 3.31 are OK when your on dry pavement but suck as you know for towing and also if there is any resistance like built up snow where you need more torque and stability to move. When there is snow the truck feels like it towing and lacks power. Coming from a 2015 3.55 6 speed this is very pronounced, Would never again buy a 3.31 and cant wait to rid myself of this truck or get the Gears upgraded due to my mistake listening to the 10 speed hype. FWIW was warned about this with the 6 speed in 2015, so I went with 3.55. Should not have listened to the 10 speed hype from the salesman.

with the old 6speed, you should get the lowest gear ratio possible (higher numerical value:1)
with the new 10 speed you cant go wrong with either the 3:31 or 3:55.
FWIW, with the 3:31, i can spin my rear wheels on dry pavement rolling from 40km/h, trans in M4, traction control off....
I have even spun my tires, from a rolling start while pulling a trailer...lol
the 3:31/10sp will satisfy 99.9% of F150 owners out there.... get the 3:55 if you plan to tow heavy, or are aiming for additional 0.01s at the drag strip, or 0.03s at the autocross (kidding of course)

I echo Thugzy's sentiments. The 3.31 is great with the 10 speed. I have experienced none of what caperj complains of, and I have a similar truck to his - 2018 with 3.5 EB, 10spd and 3.31 gears.
In my experience, it is great in snow. That engine has more torque than you would ever need, and I actually try to make sure and put it in Snow/Wet mode when in the snow, so that I don't spin too easily.
The combination of that engine, transmission, rear end, traction control system and a very good set of winter tires (Hankook iPike RW11s) make this truck excellent in snow, and most certainly NEVER lacking in torque. I've driven it through several inches of snow a few times this winter, and it just goes!
If you look at the chart of ratios posted earlier in this thread, this 10 speed with 3.31 gives you better ratios than the old 6 speed with the 3.73.

If you opt for Max Tow, 3.55 e-locker is the only gear option you'll have.
If you opt for the Heavy Duty Payload package, 3.73 is the only available choice. That package itself is generally only available on #00A option levels.
If you don't pick either one of those, you'll have your choice of a 3.31 standard or e-locker, 3.55 e-locker.
Note: my example is via the build & price page for the 2018 F-150 Lariat trim level.

I've got about 1000 Miles now on my 2018 3.5 ecoboost w 3.55 gears. I've had two previous 5.0 F150s - a 2013 and a 2015. Both had 3.31 gears. Here's my observations with this 2018 setup.
1. The low end torque is unbelievable. No revving what so ever.
2. It's lightning quick for passing. Again it's no fuss quick and fast at a low rpm.
3. Very quiet generating all the torque.
4. Gas Mileage almost as advertised. I've not taken out of town yet.
5. Sneaky fast. You need to pay attention to the speedo or get a ticket.
Can't wait to pull my boat to see how it does. It's about 7000 lbs. also want to try it at altitude to see if it maintains power w the turbos. Flagstaff AZ is about 7200 ft elevation.
THE 3.55 gears are fine with me thus far.

^this is the case with the 6 speed, but completely not the case with the 10speed. I have towed with my '18 and it kills my '15.....in the snow my '18 is a monster. My '18 is fast for what it is, way faster than my '15.. perhaps something is wrong with your truck

We will have to see as more people purchase the 18 3.31 and compare the gears. I've done many starts in heavy snow, 4wd snow and it is a dog. I have to turn off traction control turn on LSD and put the truck in tow or sport to get the same power I had in the 2015 reg mode.

Ford can show all they want the Gear to torque ratio on paper but lets hear from people that actually changed. It is not my first Ford rodeo, recently 2010,2011,2013,2015 now 2018. All last were 3.55 so when I notice the change I speak from history. Not that the 10 speed is bad just the 3.31 gears do not equate to the 6 speed 3.55. We will see when we get a 0-60 3.31 18 versus a 3.55 2015 6 speed.

my truck stock with 3.15 gear did 0-60 in around 6 seconds. Now that it's tuned even with spinning the tires it's right under 5 seconds.
3.15 rear end... again.
Gear ratios are physical things, they don't lie, it isn't like "oh nevermind we were just faking it the actual gear ratios are worse the 6 speed and 3.55 rear end"
Such weird ideas you guys have.
