Why a new F150?
My 2003 Explorer Eddie Bauer just went over 205,000 miles. Nothing lasts forever!
2016 F150 SuperCrew, 3.5L EcoBoost, 4x4, Lariat, 157"wb., gives me more room inside, more utility outside, rated to tow almost twice as much as the Explorer and (hopefully) slightly better gas mileage. (It's actually EPA rated better than the '03 Explorer's 4.0L). We'll see. Delivery is scheduled for week of June 16th.

My 2015 was such a great truck, that when it was totalled in an accident, it was an easy choice to get a 2016 as its replacement.

What prompted me?
1) Local Nissan dealer wouldn't make me a deal on a 2015 Titan.
2) F-150 had more to offer then the Titan, for less money
3) The 2016 Titan's were 15k MORE then the F-150 (think Raptor pricing) but not much more in features then the F-150
4) I used to work with my Ford saleswoman, so she took the offer I made her right away

Well, my '03 F150 XL V6 5spd was over 200k and is needing a lot of neglected maintenance caught up on. Not to mention it was T- boned at 30mph a year ago and I lost control on a wet road once. So it had enough body damage to total it, but is still easily drivable.
I wanted something 4wd and a little bigger.
My dad has a '99 Expy, brother has a '98 Ranger and '07 F150, mother has a '14 Lincoln MKX, sister-n-law has a '12 escape, and our farm trucks are a '77 and '79 F250, our tractor is a '77 Ford 3600....
So I just had to stick with Ford. So a 2016 XLT is what I got. And kept my old one to get fixed, beat up on the farm...or make a monster out of...haven't decided yet.

2 words, Z-plan. That is all. Life long GMC fan, still am, but the price difference was more than I could stand. Uncle is a dealer at a local Chevy dealer, haven't told him yet. Feel like I have betrayed my family, but I also think the current ford body style is better than the current Chevy. So I guess there is that as well. Who knows, next time I'll buy either GM or Ford. Still waiting on mine to get here.... 4 weeks and counting...

The combination of power, drive-ability, the room, refinement, amenities, and the ability to tow my toy to the track. Never thought I would ever own a truck or a Ford or blue flame. Can't wait.

Hello all!
Love my 2009 4.6L crew cab XLT 4x4 with tow package, side bed steps, man step, 36 gallon fuel tank, 3.73 gears and 6.5 foot bed! Upgraded to the Ford manually telescoping tow mirrors just recently... LOVING IT! Can actually see my blind spots!
Major thing that Ford did a fantastic job (in my opinion)is to design the totally flat floor for the crew cab.
I really hate the afterthought feature (lazy design in my opinion - looking at you RAM)that the other manufacturers did with the pseudo flat floor by actually raising it even higher to overcome the height of the transmission tunnel... my back is whimpering at the thought of it. I can actually stow my heavy electronics safely without teetering on top of the transmission hump. It's nerve wracking that the pelican cases making a whole lot of racket back there while I am driving because it won't lay flat.
I think Ford actually listens to its customers to create a superior product. I don't mind paying extra for it, because it really helps me... compared to other truck's offerings. I actually convinced my colleague to purchase essentially the same truck as mine... except his is a 2013 Ecoboost. He loves the extra room for his large road cases and it actually fits back there with room to spare! That extra leg room really helps!
Towing is just okay with the 4.6L (yes, the engine needs more power going uphills, the engine was panting pretty hard at around 4000-4500 RPM at 9-10 MPG chugging at 55mph around the West Virginia rolling hills area for a gig lugging about:
3,500 lb V-Nose 7x14 enclosed dual axle trailer to haul my
1,500 lb John Deere diesel 6x4 TH Gator, plus
6,000 lb truck and another
1,000 lb weight of 5 people and some gear in truck bed...
about 12,000 lbs of fully laden truck and trailer combined!
To be fair, that is asking a lot for ANY truck, a F250 diesel would have been a much better bet, but I only do it about 2-4 times a year.
BTW I just paid off my truck note, its currently at 165,000 miles, gonna hold off buying a new truck for about 2 years. Eyeballing that smaller diesel engine that the F150 that is supposed to come soon or may switch over to the more mature second generation Ecoboost engine. Also, my brother owns a fox body Mustang and my uncle is also a Ford engineer.
