Default What Insurance for 6 Inch Lift

A lot of insurance companies will not insure with a lifted truck. Who are you using if you've already lifted your truck?

Thats the first ive ever heard of that. Are they saying the vehicle is more prone to rollovers because of the modified suspension? I mean, it makes sense, but I wouldve assumed they would just charge you an increased premium instead of denying coverage.

Do it like the rest of the world and put your lift on and dont tell them

This is why most won't touch them...All these guys just putting a level kit on the truck run the risk of getting jack squat in the event of an accident or worse if they hit someone else they may have to pay 100% out of pocket

I bought my truck brand new stock and lifted it 9". Then this happen and although the insurance company didn't cover a single penny for the mods they covered the truck 100%.

Never heard of this. Call around some more. Ive tested it half a dozen time in the last 25 years lol.. every truck I've owed, and there have been many- all have been lifted. Never even been questioned about it.

Do you have any links to support your claims? So does it work the same way for say a Corvette owner who lowers his car since he js also altering the OEM ride height?

In Ontario Canada, not sure about other areas, insurance companies will not insurance a vehicle that has had modifications to the suspension, regardless if lowered or lifted. It is in the fine print of the insurance agreement that everyone signs. Had this issue with State Farm, Certs, and Co-operators.

That's odd. I have State Farm on my truck right now and have a 6" lift on my truck. Was just in their office last week asking about coverage on my new lift wheels and tires and they said it was all covered in my policy without a problem if something ever happened to my truck. May just depend on the office.

Yeah ...google shows TONS of other people talking about this same thing but see these articles

Blog ---> http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...-vehicles.html

Or this forum specific to insurance---> http://www.insurancejournal.com/foru...php?t=5422&f=1

Or this fourm ---> https://www.f150forum.com/f2/lift-in...-75099/index2/

(see post #14 above)

And lastly I would like to state that I have only heard of these issues with modified vehicles. Google it and you will see that MANY other people have had issues with this. If you want the final word on this issue call up your insurance guy and truthfully tell him everything you have done to your truck and see what happens...
