What Engine makes sense for me?
#251
The only thing I'll add to all this is that I'm old enough to say all these engines are amazing. They have tons more power and get much better MPG than anything else I've owned. For me, the MPG of every choice here is perfectly fine and I wouldn't select an engine based solely on MPG. Today, I can pick the most powerful choices in the F-150 and get better MPG than any of my previous trucks. Mentally, it takes MPG out of the equation for me...especially with having opted for the 36 gallon fuel tank.
These are good times!

Me? My lifetime average is 18.3 mpg, hand calculated on a spreadsheet. On the highway, I will typically see anywhere from 19-21 mpg. I don't keep up with city mileage, but it's certainly lower.

I have 65K + on my 2013 F150 Crew with 3.5L EB and am averaging 15.8 mpg (about 50/50 City/Hwy). City only, I get 13.9 mpg. Hwy only, I get from 18 - 22 mpg depending upon if I'm towing, have a load, or if the terrain is not flat. Towing, carrying a load, or up and down (hilly) roads will reduce my Hwy mileage to around 18 mpg.
I track my mpg both on the pickup computer and by hand and the hand calculated average is 0.8 mpg LESS than the computer modeled (measured) mpg.
I drive at road speed (in Oregon that's 55 or 65 mph). I set my cruise. Hopes this helps your question.

I like checking in on this thread once in a while to see who all has figured out the 5.0 is best. Still need to make some progress I see.
