Default What do I need to do to enjoy the 10 speed?

I bought my truck on Sunday and it had about 120 miles on it. Today, it has 330, so I've really only driven it to work. I drive in combination traffic that includes stop and go for awhile and 70+ mph for some of it. I found this 10 speed to be very annoying so far. While lightly accelerating, it slams into gear, and bucks if I let off the throttle during that light acceleration. The kind of driving most seen in stop and go accelerating/decelerating. I found the truck is already in either 5th, 6th or 7th at 30mph! At 30, if I start accelerating, it slams into 3rd or 4th. There is absolutely nothing smooth about this trans except when cruising at 70mph in 10th. It also tends to buck around while driving at a constant 30mph. I didn't notice if it's shifting or not during that time, but just holding constant at 30 feels like I have an unbalanced trailer pushing and pulling me around.

Is what I'm experiencing normal? I'm thinking not, but I need opinions from others that might have had this issue and resolved it, or is this normal and there is no resolution? Thanks

There's a really long thread about this topic...lots of people have experienced this. It's a recent thread so just look through the first couple of pages and you'll find it. Many have had success in getting rid of this with a TSB....once their driving styles have been "learned." I'd read up and jump in on that thread, they may have some helpful tips for you.

Take it back to the dealer, explain what it does and let them do the TSB.

I have 2018 2.7/10spd with about 2300 miles on it now. The first 1000 miles was a bit rough but it has gotten better since then. I still have a rough 3-4 shift and the occasional 3-5 rough shift. I have not had it to the dealer yet for this and I am not certain if there is a TSB for this on the 2.7/10spd tranny combo specifically. As far as holding high gears at slow speeds, that is becoming the norm with most manufacturers nowadays. I don't believe there will be a change for that.

What motor do you have as it seems to happen more with the V8 models---But it has to learn as well and you only have 300 miles, Keep driving and let it settle itself---If you have the 3.5 there is no TSB for it. I have no such issues on mine thank god--Knock on wood

As stated above, the transmission has an "auto learn" feature that smooths out shifts as you put time on it. It shouldn't take more than a few drives though.

The stupid shift points are normal.

Mine is butter smooth as well---I dont care if the trans is in 10th at 40mph, good--when I give it gas it drops down to whatever and goes, the 10-speed Works, just give it time

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll give it some time. BTW, I have the 5.0. And since I just got it, I should post a pic, because we all know that these threads are worthless without pics.

I felt the same way at first.
I was honestly thinking this thing sucks. I want my 2014 5.0 6 speed back.
I figured I'd give it some time, since I had 4 extra gears to figure out and 30 more hp with this 5.0.

I deleted what I previously wrote. Skip to my next post and see if that rings true with you at all.

Not a 5.0 thing!
