I have a tailgate assist and it work fine. It's called a beer belly! KM

This right here, once my little guys is big enough to get hit by it I will be installing one for sure. Having the tailgate step and no damper it comes down hard and fast if you accidentally drop it. (he is just turning one so I have a bit of time)
