LOL, I'm incognito, I like it like that. Lowered 4X4, zero stickers or badges, aftermarket heads/tails. 5.0 modified lower grille. I was accused by a local meth head redneck that I was an idiot for buying a RWD.
In other words, unless you talk to me, you "don't" know what it is.

It doesnt sound like much but its actually quite noticeable if you're looking. I removed mine and now when i see a stock height f150 it looks almost hot rod style because the backs so high

Same here, most tell-tale signs of my truck being an XLT (other than the front fender badge) are gone (grille, wheels, head and taillights), it now has Raptor headlights, Raptor rear bumper and dual rear exhaust, wheels from an '08 FX2 Sport and a Special Edition look-alike grille

Buddy did this. Found what he claimed was a good deal, not what he wanted. We told him, gonna trade just watch,
spent ??? on attempting to make a cheap xlt look like a platinum. We always kidded him about trying to put lipstick
on a pig. On top of that it cost him another $200 because he owed us other three dinner, for the told ya so.
We made sure it was not a cheap place either LOL LOL
Boy aren't you the deplomat. Just for your education, there are some that don't get sucked into the "look at me, I drive a Platinum" syndrome. I drive a "cheap" XLT, with $12,000.00 worth of options. Because I don't want or need most of the extras of the higher trim levels. An XL has the exact same engine, transmission, rear differential, and frame as a Platinum. Most XLs have a higher payload and towing capacity than a Platinum. I have the truck because it's what I wanted, not because I could not afford anything else. And there are many like me on this forum.

I've owned 3 F-150s, all XLT, never needed the $25,000 worth of extra options and added a few at a fraction of the cost (Raptor headlights from parts recyclers, used MBRP tailpipes and Raptor rear bumper from other forum members, etc.).

First thing I did when I brought my truck home from the dealer was to remove the Ecoboost badges, 4x4 stickers, etc. Totally plain truck. Make everyone think its a plain jane no options na V6 2wd rig that no one would want. The way I like it!

Thieves won't even see yours while looking for a Platinum to steal.

While we're on the subject of telling the difference, I was wondering if anyone knew what the difference is in the two XLT Grills?

Not that it's really important, I was just curious. There are a couple of other 2015/2016/2017 F-150's in the neighborhood and I see them occasionally and just wondering why the two different grills since they both XLT's

I feel so ashamed. Minus the fender badges, my STX looks like a 502A...

unless you have own LED head and tails, different rims, painted door and tailgate handles w/ cups, shark fin sat antenna, painted mirror caps, etc etc... I’d say that’s false. Lol.
