Looks like Chevy and Ram are giving their trucks away. Many at work have got new Silverados and Rams. One of the guys was able to get a double cab 4WD Ram similar to a Lariat in features without leather, for $33K out the door with no trade in. But it is a Ram. Just 3 of us with new 2015+ F150 while about 6 or 7 silverados and 3 Rams.

I would have a hard time buying either as Chevy reliability is known to be none existent and Rams are rust boxes.

Unfortunately, the only other truck I would feel safe with is a Toyota Tundra but I hate giving that organization any of my money so that it goes to none union shops and to another country. Of course with the Ram, it's 1 out of 2 as well.

Actually I really like my Ford as so far it has been the most reliable vehicle to date, knock on wood. The only thing I hate is the squeaks and rattles as I feel it's fit and finish are no where near as good as my 2012 F150.

I'm happy with mine after I swapped out the headlights with LEDS. 37k mi.
I would never get another GM, last one I had was in the shop 1 month the first yr and lousy service. They never wanted to do anything. It was ok after the 1st year.

I agree with the above. They sell a million of them a year so im sure this is an anomaly. I've had 3 new eb 150s and this is the first one I've had an issue with.

So....looks like I might get my wish...Ford just opened a case to buyback my truck for all the issues I have on it, trans has been out of the truck 4 times, they can't seem to fix it, the door latches still freezing, it's been at the dealer over a month total in 2018, it's been there since April 4th, and no end in sight.

Anyways, those that got a buyback, what were your deals if you can disclose, I'm hearing MSRP minus mileage? How was mileage calculated, what about aftermarket accessories? For instance, I just put new Michelins on it(400 miles on them), linex, etc? I have a call from my regional rep tomorrow for details, but now I'm anxious to know what's going on......I'm sick of driving a rental car.

2016 F150 5.0 4x4 XLT 37k miles, chronic trans and door lock issues.

Will be replacing with another Ford if they make it right, preferably a Gas F250.

I feel your pain about the rental. Mine is going on 10 days in a row out of service now over chronic vibration issues. That among several other issues that have been repaired is closing in on 30 days. It will be 28 days as of tomorrow. Mine is in Arbitration now, but not for a buy back since it is well past 12K miles, the state LL is 12K miles and one year, 4 repairs for the same issue or 30 days out of service. I did have 4 repairs in less than a year, going on 6 now for the same issue, so it is a Diminished Value case.

Waiting on Ford to say it's normal, then I will take it to a driveline shop, have them measure pinion angles, and if not 3.5 or less have them shim the fn axle. I asked several times if they measured pinion angles and the answer is a flat out no. I am so tired of driving a cheap Escape while my 60K truck sits in a shop. On the flip side, it adds to my case and with any luck increases the amount of DV I will get back, especially if I have to pay a non dealer to actually repair the truck.

A not so funny story on this topic, I purchased a 99 Mustang Cobra and it had all kinds of problems, got a buyback and took a second car. The second Mustang Cobra had more problems. I took straight to the BMW dealer, got my rear end cleaned, and purchased a brand spanking new BMW 328Ci, man that car had more issues than the Mustangs. Gave up and drove it for 60k miles until it needed a third front end. Traded it on my 06 F150 and never looked back.

Mine is well outside of lemon law as well, I didn't even ask about buyback, they suggested it, they took one look at my history and said, "let's go" I mean....let's see what my regional manager says tomorrow when we talk, but I'm pleasantly surprised that they are trying to make it right.

If this works out, I will certainly stick with Ford...this was my first Ford, but I loved the damn thing before it started to break, so much so that last year I bought my wife a new '17 Escape Titanium 2.0T AWD....we LOVE that thing....hopefully it doesn't suffer the terrible 2's like mine has.

The buyback can be a long process depending on the person doing your paperwork. If it is in the current model year it is way easier. Example mine is a 2016, MSRP for my truck has went up about 5%. I have been without a 4x4 truck every winter because of the locks and latches. So far I am 60 days in (for the buyback only) and they are just now getting things together for the first estimate (replacement). They use MSRP purchased truck to MSRP replacement truck. There is an online calculator for miles and I used that for an estimate. Mine went in with 2k miles so that is the basis for the miles I owe for, supposedly you can negotiate a waiver for miles. Aftermarket is a no value; I am having problems getting credit for things I could of purchased from Ford (bed mat, all-season floor mats, wheel well liners, and muds). They will do no discounting of new truck initially; example if original purchase had 25% discount the exchange will be MSRP to MSRP. They negotiate some but act like they cannot do anything. For me it has never been Customer Friendly. To get responses and movement I have called Ford's Customer Service line and the Dealership Service Rep; every time I have done that I have received a call same day from someone from the Replacement Vehicle Dept (Not a Ford Employee).

If you go with a cash back deal the longer you have had the truck the better for you and harder to do a replacement. They owe you every penny ever paid on the truck (down payment, taxes, all payments, and license fees). All of this is based on your State's Lemon Law. Example I have had 3 months without truck, countless hours on the phone, and many trips to the dealer which equals zero compensation.

In WA the sales tax and price increase has me battling for a replacement. It also means a custom order so there is some negotiations because at a minimum they owe me the exact truck for no $$. There are very few V8's being made anymore. So that makes it tough to find a comparable truck for mine. If you have specific questions shoot me a PM and I will do my best to share anything I know. Best of luck hopefully whatever direction you go it works out well for you and your family!!

Be careful my understanding of LL, at least in my state, is first occurrence of issue has to be in the first 12 months and 12k miles. If it went into shop first time and problem reoccurs then it counts. Actually all days for first year within miles count plus days for the reoccurring problem. All I had to do to get mine done was ask Ford for a buyback and a few days later they said it was qualified as a Replacement based on my states LL. That part is done by a Ford Employee in Cust Service then it goes to a Ford department for review. When you pass that test you get shipped over to the Company they outsource all BB with; they call it the Replacement Vehicle Dept. When you get calls from them and the Fedex package you are now going through the official process. Hopefully that is not information you already know!
