Default WeatherTech Low Profile Hood Protector - Got one?

Anyone have the WeatherTech Low Profile Hood Protector? Looking at one for my '18, but I've seen some people talking about it blowing off going down the highway and causing all sorts of damage. But I like the look of this one the best. Just curious if anyone else has seen this or if it's people failing to clean the area properly before installing it causing the issue.

I'm not sure if mine is a WeatherTech one since it has no markings on it, and was on it when I bought the truck, but I love the look, and it seems like it's stuck on there pretty good.

I don't like that stuff can still get in behind it as there are gaps between the double-sided tape that holds it on, so I'm planning on removing it in the fall, clean the hood, and re-mount it before winter.

Saw one on another make in a parking lot, it looked good for a quick glance as I walked by but not sure about gluing it down with double sided tape. Good place for dirt and such to get stuck.

Only issue the tape has popped off already and had to get more.

I've always liked the functionally and looks of a hood protector but I just can bring myself to install one because of not being able to clean behind it. I would hate to think what can potienally happen in an automatic car wash.

I have an AVS aeroskin, which is a similar product. Just do it on a hot day, so the double sided tape will stick real good.
Would not try installing alone either. Get at least one if not two persons to help get it on STRAIGHT!

Thanks for the input guys. I have never purchased one for a vehicle, but my '18 is going to be on the road quite a bit with some long distance trips this summer. My Taurus SHO already has some rock chips in the hood and it doesn't get driven nearly as much as the truck. Thinking I might pull the plug.

I had the Ford branded version of the Aeroskin on my truck. It was on for about 2 weeks and when I was washing my truck one day I noticed the bottom edge of the deflector in the center part was coming up. I made a mental note to look at it the following weekend, however the next morning on the freeway on my way to work, it blew off..lol. I watched in horror in my rear view mirror as it hit the road behind me and shattered to pieces. What upset me most, is that somehow, it left a dent and a noticeable gouge in the paint UNDER where it was sitting. I assume it must have blown up, then slammed down on the hood before blowing off. I have since ordered a new one, but have not had the chance to install it. At least when the new one is installed, it will hide the dent and scratch.

I've got the Aeroskin brand. It pretty much has tap all around the edges, except for some gaps to let water flow through. Before I put mine on I washed the hood with dawn, then used a clay bar on it, washed it again with dawn, dried it, wiped it with alcohol pads, then installed the protector. I installed it on a warm day with direct sunlight.
