Default Want a new truck

Other than that, are there good reasons to trade a 2015 for a 2016??

2016 would have more bugs worked out maybe...If your trucks working good there wouldn't be enough to justify an upgrade. Sync 3 from videos doesn't look as good as sync 2 thats on the 15's in my opinion. A 2016 may have more aluminum micromill parts per alcoa/ford statements as they are to continue adding change in parts throughout the year. Would be better to upgrade to a 17' if they add 10 speed though if you absolutely had to upgrade soon.

I think instead of losing another 10k or so to trade/upgrade I would probably customize the truck more if I had the money to spend. Although raptor retrofit lights are 1600 I think they'd be cool to get, probably a sound upgrade, tuner, exhaust, spray in bed liner, undercoating, paint protection film...just some of the things I want to do.

Only things I've done since I got my truck on newyears is mudflaps/rear wheel well liner, tonneau cover, led 3rd brake/reverse light kit (prevent melting, appears my late build has polished metal instead of the plastic that melted, but didn't know til I went to install them)

Good reason means different things to different people. Only you can answer that one! I'm in kind of the same boat right now. I have an 03 F150 daily driver right now I've had since new. It still looks and drives perfectly with the exception of rust starting to eat away at the underside from all the winters. The body is still great. No rusted rockers, cab corners, bed fenders, etc like you typically see. It's all underneath and starting to get heavy, like the lower corners of the radiator support, brackets, lines, etc. Thinking about getting a new one just because and also before any of that stuff is severe enough to cause real issues and/or significantly hurt value. Been toying with the idea for months and months and still haven't bit yet. My thoughts:

Fords seem to be REALLY hit or miss build quality wise these days. Before buying one, make sure you spend some real time checking it over for things like alignment, paint coverage, etc. It's easy to do a quick look and write off saying I can live with it when you want that new toy, but that will wear off quick and you will eventually be aggravated by those type defects you cant count on ford to fix. Better to pass on bad examples and find another one when it comes to that.

The later in the model run, the more minor part revisions and tweaks there will be to correct some of the common minor problems you see that Ford may or may not admit to publicly. That said, it's not a guarantee of getting a more solid truck. You could actually be better off with an early 15 built on a good day than one built on a bad day a few years later with misaligned panels, bad paint, etc.

Cody mentioned waiting for the 10spd....this I DEFINENTLY would want no part in for a few years. Since the HIGHLY computer controlled transmissions have been the norm, I don't think Ford has EVER got one perfect right out the gate. Always seems like it takes a few years before they are decent, with many part revisions and different software flashes along the way. I'd take the outgoing 6spd ANY DAY over a 1st year new 10spd.

That said...I've been checking them all out for a long time now. Nobody is making a relatively bullet proof truck right now. They all have their minor issues. I've even checked out Toyota's and such since they are about as 'it just works' as it gets. With the right incentives, the F-150 just consistently ends up the best bang for the buck. Ram is VERY close as well, but the grass isn't any greener over there, and while close price/feature wise, the hemi preferring mid grade (even by the book, although not explicitly requiring it) and barely getting into the 20's real world loses out to the ecoboost which feels better driving and easily breaks into the 20's. GM still has a lot of that GM cheapness and are significantly more expensive for comparable trucks, at least around here. Now back to Toyota and it's relative lack of issues and usually great reliability....Even the small lil Tacomas are nearly $40k for anything other than a 2wd stripper, feels cheap material wise, yet solid if that makes any sense, nevertheless, cheap...gets worse MPG, and even the V6 in em feels totally gutless unless you put the go pedal through the floorboard. DEF not worth it when a much nicer full size is actually significantly cheaper!

Again though. Different strokes for different folks.

I'd wait for a real change like the 2018 refresh with the 10 speed or the ~2020 remodel.

I'm guessing your 15 is an F-150? Are you having issues or did you not get what you wanted?

If you got what you wanted and you are not having any issues, I would say stick with the 2015. I can't see going up one model year when they are the same. If you didn't get what you wanted that might be a reason to upgrade.

You'd be paying a hell of a lot of depreciation for Sync 3 and not much else.

I'd wait for a model with reasonable cabin technology, ie. native Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
