Vibration. Slow shifting

After driving around in Sport mode for a month, it now appears that the normal mode has learned my driving style and I although sport mode is still more fun the normal mode is much better thanks to adaptive learning mode for engine / transmission.

I've been driving exclusively sport mode for the last few weeks. Getting as good MPG during mixed driving as I did in normal mode. I left it in normal mode once last week and it still upshifted way to early, drove me nuts, so, back to Sport. Wish, as some previous posters have said, that there is a way to default the truck to sport. Will only use normal mode on long road trips.

My 3.5L EcoBoost with 3.55 rear end also has this behavior. In normal transmission mode, when going up a hill, the transmission will not downshift soon enough. The engine will be around 1,000 RPM's, which is too low. Sport mode works much better, but I would like normal mode to work "normally". I guess I need to make an appointment at the dealer.

I just got mine back from service last week and there was an "update" but it's still the same, more or less....a bit better, but still does not shift down when it should.

I have this same issue in my 3.5 Eco/3.55 it will not downshift soon enough. I've reached 1000 miles and it has gotten a smidge better but still really annoying. Hopefully a software patch can fix it soon. Let us know of any updates. Thanks!

So, aside from the fact that sport mode deals with the shift points remarkably better than normal, I have increasingly found that when down shifting from 3rd to 2nd gear, there is a clunk and you can feel the transmission lose and then smash into gear. Smash may be a bit extreme, but you can feel it as it seems to float and then grab in a manner that can't be good for any metal on metal part.
I've had it at the dealer twice, stating that the transmission seems to struggle in downshifts and that there is a lag in transitioning from reverse to drive.
Both times, the service manager jumped in and would it in reverse and then hit the gas as he shifted into drive. Obviously this causes a jolt in the transmission. I am left with a "this is how it is supposed to be" truck. And that, "a solid engagement of the transmission is better than a squishy one..."
Even in sport mode the shift from 3rd to 2nd is harsh at times. Not always, but when it isn't clean, it's bad to say the least.
