I’ve seen some historical posts suggesting that the cam phasers for a 2017 F150 3.5 L ecoboost should be covered under the 8 year/80k mile emissions warranty. I’ve talked to two dealers today who said they would only be covered under the powertrain warranty. Does anyone have any recent luck with these being covered under emissions?
It's not part of the emissions system so I really doubt you'll get coverage. Can it effect emissions? Sure, but so can a lot of other things that aren't actually part of that system.
It is part of the emissions system according to Ford and the warranty. Mine was covered under it. Dealer didn't believe me until they looked it up and sure enough. I started the thread OP is referring to.

First I've heard of it. I've been in Ford parts for 30 years. My son is a Ford service advisor so I asked him and he said "Nope" so I mentioned you and he said he had never heard of it. Then said "Unless he's in California, they're not 8/80 they're 10/150 and it includes a lot more than Federal covers in the rest of the country." So I come back here and see in your info "Orange County, CA." So while you may have been covered that will not be the norm for most others.
If you go to the massive thread on this and scroll to the bottom, I posted the photo from the tech. The tech ran it as a WA vehicle and it still showed coverage under emissions warranty. I was in WA state at the time, although the car was registered as a CA vehicle. Warranty work was done in WA state. I was 8/80 as well btw. Not 10/150. So not sure that's a factor in this discussion. Also, the tech that ran it for me was in PA. Not trying to argue or anything but I know in at least a certain scenario, it's covered because it literally was covered for me in 2024. Obviously it's 2025 now and different states have different rules etc etc etc. Just hoping to provide at least 1 other person with the necessary info to save themselves $6000. It's worth it for that alone. I'm also not surprised that you or your son hadn't heard about it.... It was an argument with the dealership just to even get them to check it as they thought it would only be covered by powertrain.
I'm just trying to temper expectations. The truck has a California VIN so it will come up in any dealers system as a California emissions vehicle. Check the screen shot below, pulled a VIN off Ebay Motors. I'm in Minnesota. Still says it's eligible for Cali coverage.
