Why do we wish? The current Raptor 3.5 EB has more horsepower and Torque than the previous V8. Folks just need to get over the entire "but it's only a 6 cylinder" thing and look at the data. The paradigm that a V8 is more powerful than a V6 just isn't that applicable anymore.

Hennessy will be more than happy to put a V8 in one if you are willing to pay for it.

Because the V-8 has waay more potential to blow away the weak v-6, plus your v-6 will sound like crap no matter what exhaust you throw at it. You really think Ford would be messing around with v-6s if they didn't have to worry about fuel mileage? That's the only reason it was made. Consider your v-6 a government mandated engine, why would you want that.

Potential yes, but I'm going to guess that the majority of Raptor owners purchase it for what it brings out of the box, not for its potential. I think the Raptor deserves a big dick angry engine that frightens women and children, but I understand why Ford went the rout it did.
Ford doesn't have to worry about mileage, its customers do that and thats why they sell so many. Personally I'd rather have a twin turbo 6 than a gutless 8.

I've been building custom trucks for about 30 years now...all the way up into 4 figure HP numbers. I can tell you for sure that if I'm picking something to mod for the most potential....I'm buying the V8 every time. Stock for stock....who cares. I buy trucks to have fun with and a Whipple on a 5.0 is a hell of a lot more fun that a V6 with a tiny pair of turbos.

Performance purists: These people care about one thing over all others; performance. They tend to prefer the V6 ecoboost because it is better on paper than the V8.

Driving enthusiasts: They are basing their choice on the overall driving experience. The sound, feel, and torque of a V8 are what they want, no substitute.

Both people choose what they like because it meets their needs and desires. They often don't understand why others don't make the same choice as they do.
