Why do we wish? The current Raptor 3.5 EB has more horsepower and Torque than the previous V8. Folks just need to get over the entire "but it's only a 6 cylinder" thing and look at the data. The paradigm that a V8 is more powerful than a V6 just isn't that applicable anymore.

Potential yes, but I'm going to guess that the majority of Raptor owners purchase it for what it brings out of the box, not for its potential. I think the Raptor deserves a big dick angry engine that frightens women and children, but I understand why Ford went the rout it did.
Ford doesn't have to worry about mileage, its customers do that and thats why they sell so many. Personally I'd rather have a twin turbo 6 than a gutless 8.

Consider your v-6 a government mandated engine, why would you want that.

Performance purists: These people care about one thing over all others; performance. They tend to prefer the V6 ecoboost because it is better on paper than the V8.
Driving enthusiasts: They are basing their choice on the overall driving experience. The sound, feel, and torque of a V8 are what they want, no substitute.
Both people choose what they like because it meets their needs and desires. They often don't understand why others don't make the same choice as they do.
