That was for sure one of the last 2018 models. I am looking at a 2019 5.0 now that has a build date of 10-31-18. I'm probably going to end up going with the 3.5 eco though just because my 2106 5.0 has been such a noisy knocking engine. I got lucky enough to get one that according to ford, knocks by design since the TSB about it says 'There are no long term concerns and to consider it a characteristic of the engine' or some such similar BS. If I didn't get them on the Zplan I doubt I would even be buying another Ford to be honest. If whichever 2019 I pick has any issues that Ford won't fix then I will be done with them.

This was after being on the highway for an hour and it was about 75°F that day.
Compared to my 05, which sounded like it was going to detonate from day one, this engine isn't even running. That 5.4 went to 150,000 miles no problems, thankfully the VCT solenoids were still on the outside.
The 18 sounds the same as my 2010 / 5.4 did and maybe just a hair louder than my 2014's 5.0 was. No issues with either of those engines.
I switched to 5w30, roughly 3,000 miles ago. That is as loud as that knock will get.

I have a 2018 xlt 4x4 ( my '' good truck '' )with the oil burning 5.0 litre.
I just replaced my old work beater chevy with a 2018 xl bare bones 2wd.
It has the 3.3 litre n/a v6 , runs great and plenty of power .
When I trade the 5.0 in, I will try to find an xlt or a highly optioned xl with the 3.3 litre n/a engine,
I should have done that in the first place. The little n/a six has enough power to get you all the speeding tickets you can pay,
is a no cost option AND comes paired to the ZF designed 6 speed tranny, which in my opinion is just about the slickest automatic ever built.
I will miss the V8 sound , but I will not miss the whining, shrieking, clunking 10 speed .

If you just take peak HP, then yeah V8 has 395 and 3.5 has 375 and 2.7L even less
But the EB has higher towing and is faster with an extra 70 lb feet of torque and better low and mid range so
Denalis are out of the budget I'm pretty sure (get A plan on the F150 and it wouldn't be a plat). A new Laramie might not be[/QUOTE)
I currently own. F150 xlt. 5.0 fx4. Sport, great on fuel, a ton of room and can’t wait to see it gone! Oil consumption issues, on second (replaced at 20k Kim’s. ) engine # 2 10 k Kim’s. Old is using oil at the same rate. A fix for oil consumption is to be ready end of December this info from ford Canada. I have been removed from consumption test till the fix is ready.
I’m thinkin GMC for my next truck, but right now the Chevy dealer isn’t giving me any value for my trade. They done really want the head ache and I can’t blame them. The legendary 5.0 engine has now become infamous because of the 2018 oil consumption issues. If there is any help out there on how to get out of these trucks with out loosing my shirt please let me know.

No question, I’d buy an EcoBoost. No way I’d purchase another v8, mine is consuming 1 litre of oil per 1000kms. Seems the EcoBoost engine are a better design and have less issues right now.

I would buy another 5.0 but I wouldn't buy it off of a lot. I'd get it from the factory. With the company I work for we have an "X-plan" so ordering one from the factory as opposed to a lot is a bit cheaper. I have almost 11,000km on this one and no complaints so far.

Yes, after owning mine for 4 months and now 2500 miles. I am averaging about 19 mpg and it runs very strong. I have only added a half quart of oil and I do hear a small rattle at first start. My 2004 Expedition with the 5.4 went 240k with a rattle and never a minutes trouble.
