V8 700 HP Raptor coming soon

I don’t see it. As much as the nostalgic think v8s are the be all end all, Ford is all in on V6 turbos. Plenty of headroom in the V6. The Ford GT is pushing near 650HP in a street legal motor. I know it’s not comparable, but Ford chose to put a 900+hp 3.5 Ecoboost in Ken Blocks hoonitruck for a reason.

I wonder how the ecoboost design would work if it were being stuffed with a blower vs turbos? My thought is you'd have instant throttle response, negating the only real "con" of turbos. I've driven a couple EB's and the lag certainly isn't bad, but it's there. You'd need a water-to-air intercooler obviously. I dunno, just thinking out loud. I'd love to see one last big inch V-8 (kinda why I bought my '13/6.2) but not holding my breath.
P.S. -- Gotta love that "North of $70,000" prediction. Ya' think?? WAY north.....

This is definitely happening and we can all think Dodge because of their long known plans to throw the Hellcat motor in their Raptor fighter.

Dodge recognized the opportunity to gain market share. There were quite a few Ford owners that were upset, if not outright offended, that the raptor was not offered with a V8. It was seen by many as a betrayal. The comments about the HO EB putting down more power than the 6.2 are irrelevant. A supercharged V8 is in a completely different universe for power and sound. It looks to me like Dodge forced Ford to upgrade to a V8 or lose market share. For that, we thank them.
