Using ramps for oil change?

I have been using ramps on my 2.7 for the last 2 changes. No problems here. I thought about the truck being level, but I think that's overthinking it more than anything. As long you don't have the front to the moon.

I've always used ramps! That way I can roll under there in my creeper! As far as oil change places always keeping the truck level means nothing because they never drain the oil out completely anyway! The minute it goes from a stream to a drip the plug goes back in.

Just piggybacking off this thread:
What if you don't have ramps? Has anyone tried driving up one tire on a curb? Yes, it will be canted and not all the oil will drain, but a pint or two won't be a big deal in the big scheme of things when mixed in with 7.5qts of freshness.
This will be the first time I attempt changing oil with the absolute bare minimum of tools. I was contemplating getting a cheap pair of ramps for $40, but this will probably the only time I'm short of my primo tools sitting 2,000 miles away. This is a 2WD so I can't fit underneath without raising the vehicle.

I use ramps, never had any issues. It just makes it much easier for me to get in and out from under the truck. I'm safety OCD so I still put stands under even on the ramps. I have some new plastic ramps that hold up well but yeah.....

I used to put my F350 Dually on ramps to change the oil, so I have some extreme duty ramps.

I'm a pretty chubby guy..but I can still manage to get under my truck without using ramps. I use an old metal sign.. measures about 4x3. I put it under the truck.. Lets me slide under enough to get the drain plug removed easily enough without ramps. I do have the off road package so my truck may be a bit higher than stock.

When I do use ramps, the ramps are a pair of 2x8 boards with a 4x4 under one end. I drive up on it until the car's wheels are over the 4x4. That way the car's weight is entirely supported by wood all the way to the ground.

Save the Manuals!
I have never needed ramps for changing the oil on my truck. I did remove the underside engine cover on my first oil change and never re-installed so I will slide under behind the front wheels for accessing the drain plug. The oil filter on the 2.7 is topside so its exceptionally easy to do.
