Decided to put back the original USB module, and now I don't have any issues with CPLAY2Air. Something must be different with the newer module that has a USB-C port that CPLAY2Air doesn't like. They sent me the latest manual update file to see if that fixes it. I'll need to swap back the module tomorrow and report back.

Have you had a good experience with the CPLAY2AIR overall? I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on it and was reluctant to spend that much to try it out, plus seems there is a high restocking fee if you return and only within 15 days? is the whole purpose to eliminate the wire connection or does this provide more apps or things available from the phone when using this wireless method?

It's worked pretty well so far. Every so often it will freeze/reboot, but that is pretty rare. If it gets into a bad state, usually just a reboot of the phone, or a unplug/plug the CPLAY2Air adapter fixes it right away
Audio to me sounds fine! There isn't really that much of a lag between button press and the action in CarPlay.

I have a Carlinkit 2.0 being delivered today. I'm going to compare the two and see which one works best!

There are a couple of wireless charging pads available. one goes in your center console and another goes in the little cubby in front of the shifter. Sorry I don't have link to either at this time

I know this is directed at kzoojason76, but thought I'd throw in my experience with it as well.

I have a 2015 that originally came with a Sync 2/MFT unit. I upgraded to a Sync 3 APIM a couple years ago that was on software 2.2 and I could not get the CP2Air device to work with it initially. Went through the process of fighting the company's customer service as I requested a return and they wanted me to lie on the customs form about the device's description - they wanted me to declare it as a "cheap USB cable" which I didn't feel comfortable doing - so I spent a couple weeks working with my credit card company and ended up getting my money back.

Since I still had the unit after I got my refund, I tried using it again after I upgraded my APIM to Sync 3 version 3.4 and it worked flawlessly. Ultimately decided it wasn't for me though since I really only use carplay on long roadtrips where I'd be more likely to plug in my phone to charge anyway. If you drive a lot or commute a long distance to/from work, I can see how this would be useful.

It does not offer any additional functionality over wired carplay. You're essentially just paying for the convenience of not having to plug in your phone to use carplay.

Good information and its up to the end user to determine if the cost is worth the convenience. In my case I just finished adding the wireless charging pad from a 2018 Expedition in the front cubby. I had already done an aftermarket one in the tray inside the console and while it worked great and was very cheap to do (less than $20), I didn't like having my phone out of sight or easy reach. Plus I often forgot to get it out when leaving the truck, maybe I'm just too old lol. With the Expedition parts I have an OEM solution that works great however it was not cheap to do, but in the end it was worth it to me. Buying parts a little at a time helps with the cost and I was able to source some of the stuff used to get it done, but still probably far more expensive than it's worth if you can't find all the pieces at a reasonable price.

Correct!! Pure convenience! My goal is to jump in my truck, and just throw my phone on mag charger, or leave it in my pocket!

I think I'm going to keep it and test it out with the Carlinkit 2.0. It has a USB-C port on it.

^ Kzoo or someone else: were you able to confirm whether the USB C port is doing PD / fast charge for the iPhone?

Thanks!
