Neither page shows the need for a switched INPUT wire from anywhere.

Configuration 1 is if you want the SLI2 to control the external amp:

It looks like it only needs continuous (or possibly switched, but that is not shown in their diagram and may cause popping noises to the amp line inputs) power and monitors the high level inputs from the speakers to control its remote turn on/turn off function. The switched terminal is an OUTPUT to the amp to control the turn on/turn off control for the additional amp.

Configuration two is if you want the head unit to control the amp:

In this case you don't need any power to the unit at all, it just attenuates the output from the speakers to a line level. The amp is turned on completely separately from the SLI2 unit and needs to be wired from the head unit's amp/remote wire.

Does anyone know much about these amps? If there's a remote wire from the factory head unit to the Sony amp, the easiest thing would be just to tap in to that since it's right there.

Thanks for the input tcp2.

Found an old thread, sounds like ford uses only a 5v feed as a remote for the Sony amps, might be getting forced in to pulling it from the fuse box

You could pull the power from the plug for the stock sony amp. See wiring diagrams in here at post #12: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/sony-...estion-389712/

Awesome, that's how you ran yours? It didn't sound like 5v was enough, the amp I have is an old alpine mrpm-850, and from what I've been reading from alpine, it requires 12v.

That being said I'm going to assume it would be the audio enable on the diagram if I'm reading it correctly?

No, I ran the 12v supply from pins 5/6 on C3154C to my LOC which had a remote out for the amp.

You could test the audio enable wire and see if it would work though. Connect a meter and see if it gets an actual switched 12v

Perfect now I'm getting somewhere, thanks dude!

What was the reason behind pulling from both pins to your LOC?

I just used one, either one should provide the power. I just don't remember specifically which one at the moment.

Perfect, I may just go that route if we know it works instead of having to pull my meter out lol.

I'm in the middle of doing the install, my sub and box don't fix being the seat... I guess it is going under it for now and my amp and cap will go back there...

Need a quick piece of help, the wiring colours on the factory sub don't match that diagram, in trying to figure out which is which for this LOC and I'm coming up empty on search..

Anyone have any insight?
