after a little research, it seems there can be a firmware update via Forscan that would allow the older units to show album art. Being a 2016, it seems mine would fall into that category. Didn’t have them before with 3.0 so not really missing anything

I have old ACM unit in MY2011 and a newer one in MY2018 and neither one is showing album art. It might be for units which are able to mix channels from different sources they indeed have new firmware.

Thanks for the heads up. I updated my post with a warning.

Default ABS Plate to fit USB-c

You will see reference to another Ford made bracket but it fits into a much larger hole (vertically) and will not work on the F150
Thank you for this post. I spent significant time searching for a bezel to go from the 1.77" USB-c to the 2.5" hole in my 2016 Expedition and concluded that there was not such a part. I also made a cap from ABS. The outer measurements are 2"x3", and then a hole cut to fit the USB-c module.

If it's helpful to anyone else:
a) cut the inner hole first, then cut the outer rectangle second
b) rough cut with a dremel or a a oscillating tool, and then finish with a file
c) I used 1/8" ABS, which was the perfect thickness to fit the clips on the module
d) As you can see, I used mirrored ABS, and a rough finish may have been closer to the interior of the console
e) four dots of superglue holds the ABS in place

hey guys if my friend accidently turned car off during the update, right before the mustang pic shows up, so it did the quick update then turned off, and he thought it was done so he removed usb drive and shut car off, now unit doesnt turn back on, it didnt get to the mustang screen just yet, so is there a way to revive, unit has black screen now and doesnt turn on at all, but it didnt say wiping mmc yet so all software shoudl be there? or do i have to attempt full reload with ford IDS? or is there a way to change the reformat files for it to jutt maKE IT load? any ideas appreciated, i also thought of using forescan to reset apim? but didnt want to make it worse.

It sounds like you or he needs to plug the USB drive back in, start the car, and let the update start over and complete . . . don't shut it off until it completes and it will display that the update succeeded or failed on the screen.

maybe try this

Resetting the system

Before performing a master reset, try resetting the system to restore functionality that has stopped working. The system reset does not delete any data you have stored. To reset the system:
  1. Simultaneously press and hold the Seek up and the audio unit Power buttons until the screen goes black.
  2. Wait three minutes to allow the system to complete the reset.
  3. Press the audio unit Power button to switch the system on.
