So the only thing missing on my truck is the 8" MFT. I have the 4 inch i think it is. I just grabbed this truck as it had everything i wanted but the MFT. I didnt want to order one and wait. Has anyone done this upgrade? I have looked aftermarket and seems pretty dry. Do i only need the bezel, screen and radio? Will it be plug and play? I have a 2015 XLT SCREW.Thanks for any input.

No, I went from No Sync, to Sync 1 (which is no screen at all) it functioned I did not take the radio out of donor truck so it gives an ACM CFG ERR on start up but everything works so I DON'T CARE. I scored a Sync 3 unit salvage and attempted to put it in ( I also ripped as much of the wire harness as I could from donor car) I couldn't get it to come on. At the beginning of this thread the person who posted lists what each pin does, what he had to swap from Sync 1 4" screen to Sync3 he mentions a Sync Alert + and - cable I forget which pins they are on, from the donor car it was a shielded cable (both wires under the same cable) I want to know what that does or what I mght be missing that wakes sync up. I gave the Sync 3 unit to my wife and her 2013 Explorer with Sync 2. I still have her unit. I may give up and sell hers and get a nice PCP9800A or some EONON or something. I BELIEVE what I may be missing is in the truck harness that is the 16 pin on my old unit (understand my old unit is the old 2004-2008 style wire harness since it is such a BASE radio. When I went to Sync 1, It was basically power, ground, power and ground to Sync/GPS module. Plug the 16 pin from SYNC into the radio, Plug wihte and white/blue into high speed can bus, plug the medium speed can bus into 16 pin harness still in truck. Take Sync USB and SYNC audio hack plug those into hub and it works.
I was able to get the Sync 3 module to power on, and see it with ForScan but not able to get it to wake up. I want to know what the SYNC Alert wires do if they are 12v or 5v input or output. IT appears they are not 12v input I tried that. Amazingly did not burn up the Sync 3 unit. What I mean to say is Sync pins 3 and 4 what do they actually do? Does anyone know?

Its a 2013 so Sync 2 WOULD have been an option. Sync 1 wakes up fine but works totally diferent. I wonder if there isn't something OTHER than the RTC that acts as the ACM and not the dash bezel and in this case I am just missing that ACM since I am not using my old radio.

i have the screen and APIM. I plan on buying the bezel from a junk yard if possible. I am also going to contact a few places like 4dtech and see if the sell just the conversion harness.

There are three caveats.
1) The original radio has to have SYNC 1 or 2. (You'll know you have sync 1 or 2 if you can answer your phone through the car.)
2) The original radio is NOT the Sony. (will not work with the Sony)
3) this is for Non-Navagation. May work for Nav but untested.
Here's what you'll Need:
Harness on Amazon $32.00;
(OCSTAR 54 Pin Apim Connector Sync 1 Ford Camera Input Harness Cable Extension)
Wire Tool on Amazon $6.00;
(kweiny Auto Terminals Removal Key Tool Set Car Electrical Wiring Crimp Connector Extractor)
Backup Camera Harness Ebay $11:00; -"Only needed if you have a backup camera."
(FORD Multi 2011-UP Factory Backup Camera Retention Harness RH-0007)
Instructions;
The first thing you'll need to know is, how to move wires in a harness. It’s very simple this Utube video will show you how. Fast forward the video to 5:15 to see the exact harness you’ll be working with, (54 pin)
Note: in the Video he uses a screw drive. I Strongly suggest you buy the 6-dollar tool listed above, its easier.

Or search U-tube for; Ford Quick Tips #62: Rebuilding Electrical Connectors
Now for the important Part. The wire pin outs.
All the wires being move will be on the female side of your new harness.
1) Remove the black tape from the wires.
2) Remove the cover from female side of the Harness, as shown in video.
3) Find pin one and label it with tape.
The way you can find pin one is by knowing that the camera wire that is connected to the harness,(with the Yellow plug on it) is on pin 14 and 15. of the male side of the harness. knowing that you count back to pin one. Then trace the cable up to the female side and mark it with tape.
4) Note; each row has 18 wires: The low number always starts at the same side.
Here are the wires that get moved.
Description Pin Move Instructions
Move the pin on the female side from pin 6 to pin 13
Move the pin on the female side from pin 5 to pin 12
Move the pin on the female side from pin 17 to pin 20
Move the pin on the female side from pin 16 to pin 19
Move the pin on the female side from pin 29 to pin 31
Move the pin on the female side from pin 47 to pin 28
Move the pin on the female side from pin 46 to pin 11
Move the pin on the female side from pin 45 to pin 10
Move the pin on the female side From pin 44 to pin 9
All other wires stay the same.
5)Connect your new harness to the existing harness and then to the back of your new APIM.
6) connect the $11.00 Backup Camera Harness to the cable. (The small connector that connected to your old APIM). Plug the other end into the yellow camera lead.
7) Connect all other cables to their original connections and your done with wiring.
(2 cables to the top of the Bezel and 2 cables to the lower part of the Bezel)
8) Forscan - you need to configure the ACM with Forscan. If you don't. Everything will work except your phone. You wont be able to hear the other person. Im not going to tell you how to use forscan. Lots out there already but here are the the codes to plug in:
