I assume you are talking about this.. If so, yes I am aware.

Is anybody on this forum making these harnesses for cheaper? I know there were some at one time....

Also, if I am wanting to do the Android Auto, I believe it was confirmed we can use the existing usb hub with a minor nuisance. I think I read that somewhere in this long thread

Nope, nobody makes them. Lucas8888 used to but last I head he moved way from that. The minor nuisance you describe is sync telling you constantly that it doesnt support usb devices because the old hub has the sd card reader, and sync 3 does not recognize it.

Hello everyone. I'm just start this journey so bare with me. I read though the whole thread and my head is spinning but I think I know the basics. What i'm going to need is a 8" touch screen and APIM from any Ford car/truck 2016 or newer. 2016 or newer USB ports for the F-150, bracket to mount the screen and APIM, GPS wire to the APIM, wiring harness, FOREscan to program everything. It seems the only two wiring harness options are to either do it yourself or buy one from 4D Tech. Just checking to see if i'm on the right track so far?

I'm diving into this as well. Yea the only options for the harness is build it, or buy from 4d. Not all of the 2016's were sync 3. Just keep that in mind. Also, I learned from TF-sync that the 2018's require a fcim (bezel) from a 2018. That is my biggest hold up at the moment.

an FCIM from a 2017 SD Lariat (which has the 3 buttons) will also work. Ecat shows they are interchangeable. However, if a 2018 has only two buttons, then an FCIM from a 2015 (and newer) will fit.

Also keep in mind that you also need to reprogram the ACM to make the audio/voice part all work.
