Default Unused connector, under d.s. dash...

Anyone know what this is used for? It's located behind my OBD 2 port.

I notice you both have XLT models. Maybe its for something in the higher trim level trucks..like the power telescoping steering wheel or the trailer brake controller. Just guessing.

Yeah, might be for the TBC, as mine doesn't have one. Cool by me as I don't tow, but have the standard tow package, lol...

Not for tbc I have to factory one, must be an xlt option as the lariat+ has a different harness

Without seeing into the connector, it's hard to match it up by type of connector. Here's two connector location diagrams for my 2016 XLT - maybe these'll help you.

Those are called Component Location Views and they are in the Workshop Manual. They show all the connectors, regardless of what is installed. There are 44 pages of them in the manual I have and they show the location of all the components, connectors, splices, and grounds. The connector numbers (e.g., C214) come from the wiring diagrams and can be referenced to the actual connector view which shows the pin-outs and in some cases the Ford part number. C214 is a connector for Crew Chief.

You can get access from the Motorcraft site but it's ridiculously expensive (IMHO). A 72 hour subscription is $21.95. That gives you access to the whole manual, the OASIS report on your truck, TSB and SSN info for your particular VIN and a bunch of other stuff.

You can also buy it on Ebay in digital form, or a PDF compiled by some company with cheap labor (details in this thread).

I bought the PDF and it is the real deal, but it doesn't have the nice cross-indexed hyperlinks that you get with the Motorcraft website. In this case you really get what you pay for.

EDIT: Attached are the 3 views of the back of the truck. Items that begin with C = connector, S = splice, G = ground.

It's a 4 pin Male connector. Here's another pic...

Can't find it! What are the wire colors? I've been going thru the wiring diagrams till I can't see straight, but I think it might be ambient lighting or heated steering... the wire colors would help narrow it down.
