Hey gmcretz,

Installed mine today. Thanks for the write-up, made things easier. Good tip about leaving the hinge plate loose and that makes it self align and keeps you from having to adjust the strike-plate.

I got mine on sale from RealTruck. They had a Father's Day sale and also offered me a LEO/Military discount with free shipping.

I could not figure out how to use the box cleat with the swing case front bracket.

I will give it another look-see tomorrow. I was in a bit of a rush to finish it today.

Now for a game-plan to get all my stuff in these boxes. i was glad to see mine are keyed alike.

Side note for removing the tail lights. Pull straight back, don't wiggle or you could break the front tabs.

Thanks again.

Well, I filled them up today.

Let's see........

P side:
12v tire pump
4 way lug wrench
Hydraulic bottle jack
2x6 for the jack
Tire patch/plug kit (stop n go)
Two sets of motorcycle tie down straps
Jumper cables
This one is full............

D side:
Ball mount for trailer hitch
Mini shovel
Hatchet
Ratchet straps
Room to spare............

I probably don't need to carry the bottle jack (can use factory jack) but it's an old habit.

Now I need a set of small padlocks to prevent a grab n run ******.

I have owned the Ford Branded Driver-side undercase for a year. On vacation this week the latch mechanism broke. I could not get to fix it with the truck loaded so I secured it with a bungee. I just fixed it, so I thought I would post a few photos in case this happens to anyone else.

I went to latch my box, and could not find the yellow handle. It was up under the box, and when I went to swing out the box, the yellow handle and rod was still in latch, with the box completely out. I found a small piece of plastic in the bed and saved it. Luckily that was the missing piece. Here are some photos of how the pieces snapped back together. Once it snapped in, I could not get it to come back out. So hopefully I will hold up. I noticed the latch was pretty dry, so I lubricated it with silicon spray.

I have really enjoyed this case, and was pleased with the quality of install hardware. This was the first problem I have had with it, but back working again.

If I am reading this correctly, there are no new holes to drill? Just use existing?

Either way I might still go this route, just not a fan of drilling holes if I don't have to.

Love my swing box! I have it filled to the max and it weighs quite a bit but has been working just fine with nothing bent. I love how easy it is to take in and out. Nice having tow straps, hitch, and tools stored neatly in the bed.

Correct, there are ZERO holes that you'll need to drill. Simply remove the taillight and box link that corresponds with the box side you're working on and bolt it in place.

Thanks!!!

I just found this install video on YT.

Kind of bummer you lose your box links though. Losing the bed lights aren't that big of a deal to me.

I love mine and have had it for about 2 years now. I used the video above^ to help me. Was a breeze. I have ordered an 2018 just like what I have now and plan on moving the bed liner and the swing box over to the new truck when it comes in.
