Swinging Truck Tool Box, Any Reviews?
EDIT: I COMBINED THESE TWO THREADS TO SIMPLIFY THINGS.............MODERATOR
Good morning,
It's been week since I bought a 2016 5.0L XLT Extended Cab.
My last truck was a 2005 5.4L 3V, which I'll have to sell or donate away because of the timing/phaser issues. She's still running, has near 256,000 miles, going to miss her, but I can't get it to pass emissions inspection anymore.
So far, I like everything about the 2016 5.0L. However, I need a tool box to carry my tools.
I was looking at this "swinging Ford tool box" and I'm considering it, but I'm hoping there's some F150 owners here can give their honest review about it.

Is it worth the money? (Costs almost as much as your typical low profile bed tool box)
Is it sturdy and tough? (My tools weigh in total about 70 pounds, the sales description doesn't specify a weight limit)
Will it last? (I live in SE Texas, and some plastics can break in the extreme summer heat)
The only reason why I'm considering this than your typical truck bed tool box is because I kayak fish and with a truck bed tool box, I have to use a bed extender. Also, at times I have to carry lumber and again, the tool box forces me having to use a bed extender. I've encountered times of shady folks trying to steal it.

I have the Swingcase on the passenger side to avoid interference with the LED bedlight button on the driver side. I got it for similar reasons as you, not wanting the toolbox to take up too much bed room and it's worked perfectly for that since christmas. I store everything I had been keeping under the back seat before tools, trailer ball mount, jumper cables, gloves etc.

^ The same.
I picked up the passenger side SwingCase at Christmas time (so it didn't interfere with the LED button also). I LOVE mine!! Doesn't take up any room and I can swing it out to grab my tie-downs, bungees, tow rope, etc. without having that stuff in the back of the truck. The only difference that I changed was running a cable through the lock with a padlock at the end of the cable so I can swing my case out and use it while still having it locked. I'm sure there's a sexier way to do it but I went quick and easy.
I don't know it compares with the Ford one but I love mine!

They are great for those with a cover, as you can leave it unlocked at all times(as long as your cover locks). There are two places where you can lock the box, the lid and the hinge. The lid lock isnt terrible to deal with bit the hinge lock might be a pain, however it may not be an issue if you are just accessing it from the top without swinging it open.
They have much more storage than I thought they would. Almost completely water tight and have held up great over the last two years for me. I also got the passenger side box to still access the light switch.
