FORSCAN seems to be the best route. I know I can't stand the feature just on principle (I like my vehicles running when in use), but was willing to try it out. That ended the first time I was at a light and the vehicle shut down and then restarted about 0.25 seconds later... creating a nice sounding clashing of starter and ring gears. I tend to be pretty light on the brake as a general rule, and the stop and immediate clashing restart has happened a couple of times.

Since then, the system is always off.

Turned mine off with FORScan last night. Works great! I'm an Apple Mac guy so I bought the recommended Windows 10 tablet for $85 and it worked awesome!

A less than $10 permanent fix is to plug in a trailer connector. This tricks the truck into thinking a trailer is connected and causes the auto off feature to be disabled without any negative effects to engine, wiring, computer, etc.

Did you put the truck in Reverse and back up using the camera? You will see the problem with the trailer connector fix. FORScan is the better fix or jumper the contacts in the dash switch if you don't have an OBD adapter/laptop.

I can honestly say that when I got my truck if I didn't know about auto start/stop I may have never known that it is happening. If you're hearing your truck start every time or you can get your foot to the gas pedal before it's ready to go then you need to get your truck fixed.

that is a good suggestion but as mentioned above that does away with your back up camera and would prefer to keep that.

Within a day or two of owning my truck I was used to it and don't even notice it anymore. I don't get why people whine and gripe about this so much. It literally changes absolutely nothing about the usability of your truck.
I hate this feature so much because I had two of Ford's Escorts back in the 90's that would just stall and shut off. Having this Ecoboost feature is the exact same feeling. NOT a very good feeling when you are driving along at speed limit speeds and the car would just stall and shutoff. This was my last two experiences before walking away from buying another Ford for 27 years. This Ecoboost feels exactly like that experience on my two Escorts, vehicles long before the feature was invented (or was this part of their testing of the feature back in the early 90's? haha) Anyway, I agree the feature may be nice and beneficial for some users. But if they can give a button to turn it off "temporarily", then why can't they make this button to turn it off "permenately" go others who do not want the feature.

Personally, I don't see any gas savings with the feature. My wife likes it and lets it on when she drives the truck. She drives the truck on mostly highway and gets less miles to the gallon in gas than I do when I drive it during mostly local stop and go traffic and I hit the "off" button constantly to disable it. Also, everyone says (and I would have to agree with them too) that I don't have gas saving driving habits. So, when I can get better gas mileage than someone else. It can't be a gas saving feature.
