Default Tuners for the 5.0

Just wondering what tuners are most popular for the 5.0 that you guys have good experiences with and if there are bad experiences list those as well. I just switched to 37” tires and need to recal my speedometer and my ford dealer can’t do it so they told me to buy a tuner and I could do it myself.

I have mo performance mods as of yet. Regearing my truck and getting a tuner is my 1st step. I will add exhaust later and possibly other performance mods.

From the last I've seen you'll need a Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator to reprogram for tires as I don't think something like an SCT X4 can change that on the 15+'s. As far as tuners you'll be looking at either 5 star or MPT. MPT tends to be a little more popular with the Mustang crowd, but their tunes were excellent on my '07 F-150's 5.4. I plan to use them on my '16 5.0 at some point.

I haven't specifically looked into tire size reprogramming with forscan but last I saw the developers were working on adding that ability to their software. Maybe you could look at the sticky thread and see if that is something you want to do, post a question there to see if the most recent software release is capable of it?

Ah yes, last I heard that was either working now or would be soon.

OZ Tuning’s Omega tune seems to be the tune to beat at the moment.

If I ever mod my 17, I would use the tuner that did both of my GT500's.
People will argue that this shop or that co. are the best,..........but there is no comparison with a custom tune.
The tuner drives the vehicle, data-logs it, tunes it on the street. When he is happy with what he sees on his laptop, & how the vehicle drives, it goes to the dyno, maybe some tweeking.
I am lucky to live close enough to a to a quality shop, to have this done. The owner, who does all the tuning, used to work for Ford,..........as a tuner.
If I had to run a " canned " tune on the 5.0, I would use JDM or VMP.

Whipple makes a device to recalibrate the speedometer for $275, but it doesn't add performance.

Omega tune from tuningbyoz.com (Oz Tuning) 1 tune that auto cals to your octane rating or e85. All Ken does is 5.0s. Fantastic customer support as well!

I haven't seen a dyno sheet on this site yet that indicates a tuner is worth it for the 5.0. I mean that doesn't mean it doesn't improve shifts, as long as that's all you want.
