Default The truck took over

I was at a friends home parked on the street. I had to leave to get some more goodies. I had a car parked behind me and in front. It was hard to get out.
When I came back I decided to try for the first time the parallel park assist feature. I have to be honest it scared the bejeebers out of me when the truck took over and was steering the truck. The truck was parked perfectly in the spot. All I can say is I was VERY impressed with this feature. I will not hesitate to use this feature when ever I can.

Parallel parking used to be the hardest part of the drivers test when I first got my license about 50 years ago. Many vehicles didn't even have power steering so this increased the difficulty.
Modern technology has certainly come a looong way.

My driving test I had to parallel park also. I would have never tried to park my truck in the spot last night because it was dark and how much work it was to just get out of the spot. It won't be long till you start the vehicle and it drives you.

There was a TV special showing that in the near future. This was back in about 1957 or there abouts.
Not there yet but many steps closer.

I also had the parallel test getting my license 30 years ago and the DMV guy failed me for not looking over my shoulder (looked in rear view mirror). 2nd time was the charm though Hopefully my truck will finally arrive this week so I can test out this feature.

Most major automotive and technology companies (including Ford) are predicting autonomous vehicles in 2-5 years-its really not that far away.

Personally i have a concern that over time it will slowly be outlawed for humans to be driving.

Driving is a passion for me-i would hate that.

You should have seen the look on the salesman's face when the 2015 f150 steered itself up on the curb when he was demonstrating the park assist feature.

What happens if all the spots are full? I'll be a buyer when I can send it to get a burger for me and come home.
