Tried to install an HID kit in my '15 XLT...lights keep turning off on me
#102
I've had a Kensun Kit which I installed in November of 15. I posted my setup earlier in the thread. I've had zero issues until about a month ago. Sometimes the lights go on and sometimes they don't. I can sometimes take the key out and restart it and they'll come on but sometimes I have to let it sit for a little before I restart and they'll come one. Trying to see if I can localize the problem to a specific occurance. Could it possibly be when I remote start the truck? My wife drives it during the week so I haven't had time to consistently test it but this morning I had her not remote start it and they came right on when she started the truck. Has anyone had any issues that may have been due to the remote start (voltage, etc.). It was never a problem before with the remote start so I'm fresh out of ideas right now.

I installed the Kensun 55 Watt HID kit into the low beams (H-11 @ 6,000 K) of my 2016 XLT Sport last week in, and I have to say... I love it! Despite what many people on the forum say about "never putting HIDs in halogen housings" or being "too cheap to step up to ANZOs or Raptor retrofits", I really like the brightness, the color, the spread, and the throw of these lights... and I am really happy that I went this route. It was exactly what I was looking for, and it only cost me $50 (I also purchased the wiring relay kit for $20... so I guess I technically spent $70).
As far as the install, it was a piece of cake. The bulbs fit tightly, all the connections were plug-and-play, the wires tucked in nicely where they needed to, and the dust covers fit back on with no issues. I chose to go through the wheel well rather than pulling the headlight assemblies out, which was a little tight... but manageable. Once everything was wired up, the kit fired right up and hasn't skipped a beat since (I did not buy the anti-flicker circuits). I probably spent about two hours from start to finish, and that included the time it took to do a nice, clean, neat install.
Not sure how well this picture will truly represent what I see out of my windshield, but I think it does show that they're pretty bright, and throw a good spread out there.
I know this route isn't for everyone, but I am pretty happy with what I have. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope that they hold up.

Projector Headlights With Daytime Running Light Bar Black With Factory Halogen Headli
After purchasing and installing these new headlights from cjponyparts the drivers side install went in smooth but when installing the passenger side I ran into a number of problems. First and foremost the high beam on the passenger side won't turn off and the blinks for both drivers side and passenger side will not blink but I can hear that it is working? So on this headlight you remove the bulb and an adaptor with the same connection as the bulb makes the connection and one of the pins on that connector broke off. Besides the need for resistors those have been the main problems, if anyone has answer I would appreciate the help tremendously. The websites instructions won't pull up for troubleshooting and is unclear as to a solution.
Thank you

Ok so I know this is a super old thread but how did you get the dust covers to fit with the hid kit? It looks like from video the dust cover covers the entire headlight and you couldn't fit the hid ballast in the socket with the bulb?

i realize this is an old thread, however im having an issue with one of my headlights coming on at random. 2013 f 150. HID lights, it drained my battery dead. i checked all grounds, etc. this relay harness, is this the harness that goes from the bulb to the ballast? where is the relay, is it the square metal thing connected to the bulb?

As far as the initial issues I had - the HIDs worked fine when the truck wasn't running, which is why I completed the install thinking it would work. The HIDs would just turn off on me at random intervals while driving, so I removed them the next day and I ordered the relay harness. Once I installed the relay harness, the HIDs have been working great! The only thing I did other than that is to go into the truck menu and turn off the DRLs so I can leave my light switch on auto.

Haha. It sure is. I had a 2017 and now have a 2019 since. I tapped into the OEM light switch. Did I mention in my earlier posts how important the capacitors were when I hooked it up? Since I had a bad taste from the 2015 HIDs I put Anzo’s in the 2017 and converted the headlight bulbs to LEDs. Which looked great but didn’t put out nearly the kind of light the HIDs did. Then finally, tired of taking the front of the truck off and really wanting push button start I broke down and ponied up for a Lariat 502a with the factory LED headlamps. Then I see that 2021s not have the option for LED headlamps and push button start. I’d just have to add leather..wtf? Lol. The HIDs were great but of course, they started intermittently not working like 2 months before the lease was up and we just had a baby so I was dreading having to diagnose it.
