Default Travel with Fishing Rods

I just picked up my new 150. I have 5.5 bed and some 6-8ft fishing rods that are 1 piece. Looking for ways to carry them to the Reservoirs and lakes I fish on.

How are you traveling with long rods?? (and damn, that just sounds wrong ).

really?
you can fit a ~7' rod diagonally in the bed. if not you can just lay it against the side of the bed, tie it down to the bed anchors with a foot or so sticking out.
if the weather is nice, you can open the rear slider and shove it there...

Hook up a boat and trailer, then put in boat. LOL.

I've seen some guys that fish offshore mount a set of rod holders, and stand poles upright. If you go that route make sure fishing line is tied off and drag tight, otherwise you may have a few hundred yards of line following you to your favorite fishing hole. Enjoy your new truck!

In my explorer I use Thule Ski Rack to hold my longer surf poles. When my 150 gets here I planned on making a front rack to hold them vertically or getting Thule feet for the roof and using the ski racks.

Maybe some thing fabbed up using the box link similar to this

ya really. My 04 150 6ft bed that worked and I cut a piece of decking that held my rods diagonally but this 5.6 bed is a lot shorter. Try some math....8ft rod aint gonna fit.

There are a lot of good thinkers on this forum so I figured I'd get some good ideas.

well I read that you have rods from 6' to 8' long so that would have solved part of your problem.
if you have 6 x 8' rods, then no, I agree.

I haul 8'6" rods in the cab all the time in mine. Just run them from the passenger side to the back seat. Plenty of room
