Trailer wiring causing electrical burn smell

Trailer wiring causing electrical burn smell
I have a new 2016 F-150 with V-8 engine and 1400 miles. When I connect the trailer wiring using the 7-way RV plug I get a strong electrical burn smell coming out of the engine compartment. All the lights, blinkers and brake lights work just fine. I do not have a trailer brake controller so I pulled the trailer brake fuse to eliminate that circuit but the smell was just as strong. I don't know which fuse to pull to shut down the auxiliary battery circuit or I would try that one as well. If I disconnect the 7-way trailer plug the smell goes away. I will call my dealer first thing in the morning but thought I would bounce this problem off you guys on the forum. I need to pull a trailer for work but can't do it until I get this problem diagnosed and fixed. I had a 2015 F-150 and had no problems at all pulling a trailer. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Trying to figure it out!
Honestly I wouldn't even mess with it. I'm not a fan of dealerships and I am see them blaming you for any electrical problems that show up after you attempted to diagnose it.
Let us know what they say though.
