I could see the towing display screen on my console before I installed the TBC. Can you see the towing display screen on your console? If not, I would think it would be difficult to use the Ford TBC. If you have the towing display screen and also have the wiring harness under the dash. I would think you would have no issue using the TBC. This is JMO of course, but logic says, if you have those two components, then after installing and enabling the TBC, you should be good to go. Along those same lines, there should also be another wiring connector in the harness in the rear of the truck to plug in the 7 pin pigtail.

Hope this helps!

The only option i have that i can access is trailer sway. I can only tick it on/off. Perhaps someone can confirm they where able to access the trailer brake options while the module was not install/turned on.

I just picked up a 2016 XLT without the integrated brake controller.

Livnitup - can you explain this FORScan process so I can do it myself? I haven't found that yet in my menus.

Thanks!

If you've already got FORScan installed and are ready to program, below is what you need. If not, see this post for directions on installing FORScan: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/forsc...-truck-348987/

1. Go into the programming screen for IPC Module configuration (AS BUILT format)

2. Make the following changes: (Ignore whatever you have where the x's are and just put the "E" and "4" in the approriate line and position and click the "write all" buttton. Ignore the warning message FORScan will give about incorrect checksum and continue with the write; it'll write the correct checksum automatically anyways)

720-07-01 xxxx xExx xxxx Trailer Brake Control Module enabled
720-04-01 xx4x xxxx xxxx Trailer Brake Controller Gain Setting enabled

I ordered part number FL3Z-19H332-AA for my 2016 with the regular tow package. I see that there is now a FL3Z-19H332-AB out, will I be OK with the AA?

I bought a trailer brake control module before I read this thread. I paid for GL3Z2C006CA from a dealer in FL for less than TASCA's price. The dealer then refunded my money back to Paypal with a message that it was the wrong part # for my VIN.
My truck is a 2015 F-150 XLT, 5.0, with trailer tow pkg.. I then called TASCA and they said that the reason both the part #'s mentioned in this thread come up on their web page is because the more expensive version is a kit while the part number I state here is OK for my truck as I don't need the kit, just the module. I called two other dealers and was told that only the FL3Z-19H332-AB is correct for my truck.
Would someone confirm that the cheaper part does in fact do the job?

It took me reading 24 of this threads 25 pages to get to the mention of the cheaper part number! Whew...
Thanks!

So I have a 2017 XLT SCrew. I did not purchase any additional tow package. However, I do have a Class IV hitch and the combo 4/7 harness. Will I have all the wiring necessary to just plug in the TBC? I realize it would still need to be programmed. Thanks

It should, see if the connector is attached to the backside of the pocket where the brake controller goes.

My 16 xl scab had the same trailer hitch option without the trailer tow package . The plug was there and the controller installed easily.
