the last 2 days the trailer battery not charging see manual. has been coming on. I do not even have a trailer hooked up. last night it went on and off at least 10 times in less than a minute, almost like there is a short somewhere. I'm just wondering if anybody else has noticed anything like this. I did try searching and didn't find anything.

Go to the dealer, I believe they will replace the connector. Probably several threads on this floating around here

SSM 45236 - 2015 F-150 - Trailer Disconnected And/Or Trailer Battery Not Charging Displayed In The Message Center

Some 2015 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a trailer connected then trailer disconnected and/or a trailer battery not charging message displayed in the message center when no trailer is being used. To correct the concern, reprogram the Trailer Module (TRM) to the latest calibration using IDS version 96.01 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com. Use causal component 19H332 and applicable 12651D labor operations from Section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standards manual for reprogram only.

As the SSM states they just need to update the calibration in the TRM.

We've seen this several times on our Ford Fleet vehicles and have yet to have the TRM replaced. All is good after the calibration is updated

Having this same problem. No trailer attached but warning and chime going off about every 5 seconds. Brought it in, they said all software is up to date. Need to keep it to dig deeper? Merry Christmas to you too Ford

Mine did that when I hooked up a trailer, would go on an off, but once I got to the highway it stopped. On the way back from camping same thing, hook back up first 10 min or so constant warning, get on highway works fine. Took it to,the dealer, told them about the issue, gave them the tsb, they said one couldn't replicate with their plug in module and that all my software was up to date.

I just towed for the first time this week and got the same message as tsdahc. Trailer would keep disconnecting and I never had trailer brakes the entire time. Very frustrating.

SSM 45508 - 2015-2016 F-150 - Trailers Equipped With Electric Brakes - Trailer Disconnected Message

Some 2015-2016 F-150 vehicles built on or before 11/04/2015 may intermittently display a Trailer Disconnected message while using a trailer with electric brakes. Inspect the 7-way trailer connectors for any signs of corrosion or excessive wear. SAE J2863 compliant connectors are the recommended trailer harness connectors. If no concerns are identified, reprogram the Trailer Brake Control module (TBC) to the latest level using IDS version 98.02 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com. Use causal component 2C006 and applicable 12651D labor operations from Section 10 ofthe SLTS manual for reflash only. Refer to the Owners Guide and Towing Guide for additional information.

Thank you for posting that hopefully that will fix the problem for me. That is if I can get the dealer to actually perform it.
