Outdated. Hah. The 5.0/6R80 is STILL the heart of my favorite drivetrain.
That said, the OP will love the EcoBoost. It's torque delivery is near-instantaneous. It's delivery, however, is less-linear. Get the twin-turbocharged 3.5 Eco if you want a stout tug. Get the Coyote 5.0 if you want to tow and but also when not towing have a spirited, sonorous, mellifluous daily driver.

Really? I didnt know that.... [insert sarcasm smiley here]
It's the ones that think a new grille, headlights and wheels make it an entirely new truck. They're the ones that Ford profits most from.

The 5.0 is sluggish after switching to 295/60's. It likes you to be in a higher rpm to make power. I'm looking for power at a lower rpm. Maybe the 3.73's would have helped. I tow often! And I tow to the mountains often! Navigation, sync3, and the added mpg are a plus. I hate that the Katzkin will be gone however. I got such a good deal on this truck I didn't mind the refresh.

Ecoboost all the way for the power play. The 5.0 is a nice engine and sounds great, but it just can't compete when you need torque. Towing with the eco is zero drama, compared to doing the same route with a 5.0. The 5.0 needs to rev and really works hard, hills/moutains are it's death when towing.

Having owned both, i'm confident you'll LOVE the 3.5, especially compared to the 5.0

I just bought a 18. This is my first Ford truck. Always drove Chevys. I test drive 2 trucks with the 5.0 because that’s what I was dead set on buying. They drove great and was dealing on one until the dealer tried to jack me around after we settled on a price.
I left there went somewhere else and they had the truck I wanted except with the EB 3.5 3.55 gears.
I decided to test drive that one and I’m glad I did. I went home with the EB 3.5.

Keep a truck only a couple of years? You'll be fine with the EB.
