Congrats on the new truck, lots of other great little improvements on the 17 as well despite the engine and transmission. Mine feels way more solid than my 15 did.
I love how all the 5.0 owners crap on the guy for disliking the engine. He disliked it, move on with life. I was also unhappy pulling my enclosed trailer with my 5.0. Really bogged down on the hills and I got tired of hearing it scream in 2nd or 3rd gear up hills in comparison to the Eco I had previous.

tip in throttle response, blows away the 5.0.
Rolling away from the stop light, blows away the 5.0.
Will be towing my enclosed sled trailer with 2 sleds in it and a sled in the pick up box this weekend....I'm sure it'll out perform the 5.0 too.

It is supposed to! None of that ought to be a surprise - and there really is no need to compare the 3.5 to the 5.0; they are not supposed to be compared.
Enjoy your new truck. Put a tune to it and you will see just how much MORE there is, even with a mild tow tune.

That's what your EcoBoost's tiny turbos are for: for off-idle grunt.
I, for one, did not want the Eco after I learned of the new-for-'11 Coyote. The Coyote engine is a masterpiece. I had previously considered the 2.7 Eco for part-throttle mpg... but I tow light trailers and wanted the compression braking that comes with a larger engine displacement.
The 5.0, at least through this model year, makes *more* power than a thru-'17 Eco. More. That all changes for model year '18.
You just weren't driving the 5.0 correctly. It's ok. Now you have what *you* want. Have fun with it! I'm sure you will.
The only "butt hurt" I can perceive is the angst among our fellow F150 owners... we should rally as a group, each enjoying the torque characteristics of the engines we choose to purchase.

I think u hit the issue. The 5.0 has power high in the rpms and even then the torque is still lower. So getting a trailer moving isnt anywhere near as easy with the small v8. Nobody can "drive it right " to give it more low end torque. So for those that want the significant torque advantage, the 5.0 feels weak. Of course drive a full size truck like a mustang and the hp is great but well its not for everyone.

Lot's of butthurt and people that wish they had a 3.5-especially the 2017. Simply put it out tows and outperforms the 2.7 and 5.0 when towing. The 10-speed transmission is amazing and really well tuned.
