Toyo Open Country AT II vs Nitto Ridge Grappler in a P-rated tire

So I've been shopping around for tires to go with my 17" wheels that are on order. Size 285/70R17.

Thought I had it narrowed down to Toyo Open Country AT II's as Walmart has a great price on them- then I started shopping the memorial day sales this weekend and found some good deals, notably Nitto Ridge Grapplers for the same price as the Toyos. I never looked at the Nittos before (price was too high) but it's a good looking tire and I like the sidewall better than the Toyo.

Thoughts and opinions, anyone run either? Tried googling but of course I'll get one link that says the Nittos are great and the Toyos are ****, then I'll get one that says the Nittos are ****...also seem to find more related to the LT tires than P rated.

They are both great tires, it is personal choice. You will not be disappointed in either.
Tires are too subjective, and everyone drives differently, lives in different areas, has different needs for their truck, etc. Many people haven't used enough of a variety of tires to truly know the differences, or have pushed tires to the limit before.

It is 2019, any "reputable" tire brand is making a solid tire that is 10x better than anything from years ago. Tire technology has come a long way.
Choose any major brand and product line, and you will be just fine.

Well I realize this but curious if anyone here has used either...also I mostly worry about winter/snow traction as I do not plan to ever have a set of "winter" tires for this truck.

Not to add another to the mix but have you considered the Falken Wildpeak AT3s? Mine do great in the snow and rain up here in North Dakota. Pretty quite as well.

I looked at those but can't find them for nearly as good of a price as they were a few months ago.

edit: I was looking at the Falken Rubitreks as well but they went up almost $200 a set since when i first started looking around about 2 months ago. Not sure why, also noticed that many places only had the LT's of that tire and not the P, and of course the LT's are also much more expensive.

Check Discount Tires price on the Toyo or Nitto. They are running a 10% Memorial Day rebate.

Made by the same group. Toyo owns Nitto. I am going with Ridge Grappler after running Open Country AT IIs for last 7 years. Just waiting for my factory tires to wear down.

I'm looking at Simple Tire, they're doing 20% off all Nitto tires for Memorial Day. Never used that site before but they seem to have the best discounts/rebates bar none. Plus theirs is an instant discount, no mail in rebate BS.

I have run the AT2 and the MT, I now have the RT, by fare the best of the two, but if your between the Nitto and AT2, you can’t go wrong with either.

I decided to buy the Ridge Grapplers. Couldn't pass up that price! Hope they are good!
