Towing without tow mirrors

I bought these. Haven't had the chance to use them yet though.

If you have any decorative covers, I'd recommend some foam tape on the inside of the towing mirrors to help protect the OEM mirrors and maybe snug up the fit a bit.

I was towing my box camper with an expedition prior to purchasing this truck. It had the standard mirrors and all that can be seen is what's beside your trailer. There is no visibility behind to see what's coming. When changing lanes I had to signal well ahead of time then move over slowly. They do make clip on mirrors which work okay but those big Ford towing mirrors are best in class! Superb is how I describe them.

I've never had the big tow mirrors on any truck I've had. I did have a set of the mirrors Tully mentioned. They did help some but not a lot. The tow mirrors let you see a little more but not a big difference. I have pulled an 8 1/2 X 26 foot trailer several times

F-150 Platinum 16
I didn't get the limited because I couldn't get the tow mirrors....on my current 09 I have them and they are a pain to fold especially the right side.....but now on my to be 16 platinum it won't be a problems at all since they are electric

Forget seeing behind the trailer, you can hardly make out the side of the trailer with standard mirrors.
Specs:
Truck width - 79.9"
With standard mirrors - 96.8"
With tow mirrors - 105.9"
Without some form of tow mirror, you will be reliant on moving side to side in the lane to see down the side of the trailer. The blind spot moves out like a cone towards the back of the trailer.
On my 2010, I used **** clip on mirrors. They were good. I hated having to constantly put them on and then take them off. I camp every other weekend through the summer, so this got to be a lot.
I really like the tow mirrors on my new F150.

I've been trying to decide between the (newly available) ****'s and the Longview's: https://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Towi...id=20154034198. Cheaper is nice, but etrailer has a video of the long views so I can at least see the install. I've never used clip-on's, so I'm a bit hesitant as to what it would be like.
