Default Towed while in park. Replaced drive shaft.

Long story short, my 2015 F150 Lariat 4x4 Screw was towed from my work parking lot. It was in park with the parking brake on. When I drove it home from the towing lot, I noticed a bad vibration and noise when above 50mph. The drive shaft ended up being the culprit and was replaced as it was bent and dented. Insurance covered it and they are going after the towing company.

My question to the group is am I overreacting thinking that my transmission could now be a ticking time bomb? I'm not sure what kind of tow truck they used. The towing company won't tell me.

Talk to your lawyer about getting the tow company to pay for inspection and possible follow-up repairs at a shop of your choosing.

Ask your insurance company to have the transmission tested.

Assuming you did everything right, and they were 100% in the wrong by towing it, I would be absolutely livid. Hire an attorney. I'd be going after them not only for the damage to the vehicle, but for punitive damages.

I've heard some horror stories of vehicles damaged by tow companies. There are gaps in some state's laws regarding who is at fault and predatory towing. These tow companies carry insurance to cover damage like that, and if the towed vehicle could possibly be damaged by a tow they can choose to not tow it.

I would demand a full driveline check-up at Ford. If the tow company refuses, call your insurance. If insurance refuses, talk to a lawyer.

"Towed from my work parking lot". Would love to hear the back story on that one.

When they snag people in the city it's typically the 2 wheel lift claw method. If you backed into your spot than they take the front, & vice versa if you're pulled in. Back in the day I always worried about the legal battle I would face if my car was ever towed in such fashion (full time AWD).

Probably time to find a good lawyer.

Depending on the circumstances , towing Companies in my area are not responsible for damage incurred while towing. I remember reading a while back regarding this very thing, owner took the Towing Company to court , and lost.

Since insurance is covering it, no need for lawyer. Simply get them to have the transmission tested.
