what is the best tire to use for a 35x12xr22 setup for on and off road

I think if your doing any serious off-roading 22" wheels are too big. Even 20" are marginal.

It want be any mudding per say mainly highway but if I happen to half to go off road I don' want to have to worry about the tires

I agree with that...problem is I don't think BFG makes K02s in 22" if the OP is set on that size wheel.

Highway use & offroad use are completely opposed to each other in terms of usage... You'll need to find a hybrid, but you will never get full performance of both in 1 tire, it's either one or the other.

The KO2 has been around for quite some time now, but it will get noisy on paved road at some point (like all other AT tire with aggressive thread pattern).

I am wondering the same thing.
Not looking for high performance in either direction, but good road manners and won't get me stuck on the beach.
20's have always done just fine, but now 22's seem fairly reasonable and look pretty sweet.

I've had good luck with Terra Grapplers, Trail Grapplers are decent, and right now I'm running Yokohama Geolandar G003 MT's that I like. I did get stuck on the beach, but that was from me being hooked to a silverado, that was hooked to a mustang trying to pull the mustang out (they framed it and threw all the sand out from under the wheels). They've got pretty good road manners, and do great off-road. Mine have seen sand, mud, and even some light rock climbing.

IMHO its hard to beat the Toyo Open Country AT2XT or the Toyo Open Country RT, as soon as the 35's on my current truck wear out i will most certainly be going back to the Toyo Tires.
