Default Tire/Wheel opinions

I just got done with the level kit on my truck and can't decide what wheels would look best... I'm either going to stay with the factory 18's and go with a 295/70/18 or 295/65/18 or go with the Raptor 17's (early style greyish colored wheels off a 2010) I have and go with a 315/70/17. Tire wise, I'm going to run Duratracs unless I go with the 295/70/18 as I don't believe they make them in that size. Main question is what do you guys think would look best? And is anyone running 315/70/17's on a 2015 yet? The picture is my truck, level kit installed...

Thanks for any feedback!
Nate

This is such an open ended question that it's hard to answer. Even with more details, what we may like may not be what you like.

There are so many great looking wheel and tire combinations so it's hard to recommend just one.

Do you have any personal choices you are looking at in the 17-18" size outside of the stock 18s or Raptor 17s?

I know it is hard to answer... even harder to decide! Haha. I do not want to buy other wheels so I am looking to stick with what I already have. I guess my fear is that the raptor wheels (which I'm leaning towards using over the factory chrome) will look goofy on the truck. I have even debated powder coating them a different color than the grey.

I have 295-65-18 duratracs and a 2" level on my truck. I tried to attach a pic but can't from the app. I love the look of the truck with the tire but overall am not a fan of the duratrac. I had Nitto Terra Grapplers on my last truck and they were great. I heard really good things about the duratrac so I figured I'd give them a try. Unfortunately I'm not impressed. If I did it over again I wouldn't buy them. I would get either Nitto Terra Grapplers or Toyo AT2 in 295-70-18.

If you wanted an opinion, I'd say go with the 18s. You are already going with a large tire so 17" wheels will look tiny. I personally love the look of 18" wheels on bigger tires because it gives a good balance between the size of the tire and wheel.

That's interesting that you don't like the duratracs... I've ran them on two different vehicles (older F150 and a lifted xterra) and I loved them. Just curious, what don't you like about them? I've ran Nitto's as well and they were decent but didn't seem to have the same traction in the snow from my experience.

As for the wheels, I agree with you on all that... I think the factory wheels match the look of the 2015's well, probably better than the older style raptor wheels will. Unless someone is running them already that can change my mind...

For me they are loud and don't ride as smooth as my previous Nitto Terra Graps. My dad has Nitto Trail Grappler M/Ts on his super duty and the duratracs hum more than they do. I've had to visit the tire shop 3 times to get them balanced and they still don't ride as smooth as my previous Terra Graps did. I've thought about replacing them except I know I will lose my shorts doing so. I also have a neighbor that has a set on his dodge and are about 2/3 worn out and are extremely loud. You can't hardly have a conversation because they are so loud.

Default tire Wheel Options

Just wondering does going up to 285 or 295 affect ya'lls tire pressure sensor, reason I'm asking is I'm thinking about doing the same on my tires. Going up to 285 or 295's, Thanks

Thanks guys for the ideas/opinions. I ended up going with a 35x12.5x17 with the raptor wheels. Just thought I'd show it off a little.

pretty impressive you got 35s with 2" level and I'm assuming those raptor wheels are close to a stock offset?

I ran a 17" wheel/tire combo on my 3rd gen ram and i liked the less wheel/more tire look because it was an older truck. But i told myself i need to go with a 20" combo this time around because part of me thinks it looks better on newer trucks.

however I'm diggin your set up. it has me rethinking
