Default Tire options.

My truck came with 285/55/20 big ko2 that weigh in at 55 lbs a each. I keep them set about 42 lbs. Feels like I知 in a 3/4 ton truck. I feel that there is not enough side wall and I am wanting to go up to a 275/60/20 which is a tad taller and p- rated and should weigh in about 10 lbs per tire lighter and hopefully ride alttle better. What do you guys think? I was thinking the falken at3w or toyo at2. I知 open to suggestions. I値l post a pic so you can see how small the tires look on my truck.

I would start by dropping your pressure down. I run my 315-70-17 BFG ko2 at 36. Your short sidewall is definitely a handicap to the ride.

The 55 sidewall is not the only cause. The LT rating is also in cause. They are much more stiffer than OEM tires (P-Rated).

My truck came equipped with a set of 275/55r20 Hankook Dynapro ATM and I switched them for 275/60r20 Falken Wildpeaks AT3W. For the price, they are very good tires. No noise at all (for now) and good traction. We got our first snowstorm this morning and they handled great, going to work. They are a little stiffer and heavier than my OEM tires (even if they have 60 sidewall instead of 55), but I really like them.

I run 275/60/R20 on mine. I was initially going to go with 275/65 but I'm happy with the 275/60 because it is a lighter tire and doesn't affect milage as much. Plus my speedometer is dead nuts on now.

I also run 285/55/20's, but mine are Amp Terrain Gripper's. Mine rides nice and smooth. My tires weigh 61lbs each.

286/65/20 which I run at 36psi. Ride is a little more harsh than the original Hankooks, but not bad at all.

Your logic is sound. If you make the change that you are considering you should get the desired result.

You're talking about a difference in sidewall of about 1/3". I think you will feel more of a difference from going to a p-rated tire than you will from that minor sidewall difference.

(that said, I did go from 275/55r20 to 275/60r20 figuring any little bit would help. Next time I need tires, I may go to 18's, I think I can lose a little weight in the process as well.)

Then you'll need new wheels. So the weight you'll lose will be in your wallet.
