Tips for hammering out a dent?
#11
That’s brutal. Pretty much any dent on a crease isn’t coming out, whether steel or aluminum. Any good PDR guy will tell you that...and if they don’t, they just want your money to make it look worse. That needs filler and sprayed. They might be able to spot it though w/o respraying the whole tailgate. Take it to a reputable shop and talk with them.

Guys who think aluminum can't be worked need to look at one of these. Don't buy into the internet BS, aluminum is great to work with, and shrinking it is easy.

That should buff right out.
I think it'll be tough to get out yourself to a good looking state because of the crease. Have to be careful hammering from the inside, that it doesn't push more of the tailgate out than you want (at the sides of your dent).

3 different pdr places told me it cant be done. Took it to a body shop and the quote was 700 to fix it right. I'm going to bend the bumper back out a bit and call the dent in the tailgate a beauty mark after I touch it up with some paint.

700 to fix it? I was rear ended and needed the whole bumper replaced along with the trailer hitch. $1400.
The bumper comes in 2 pieces. Buy one half and get it painted.

You could check around your local salvage yards, you can probably get one cheaper than that as long as you don't have the step.
