Maybe everyone I'm watching can't drive worth a crap.....lol The 2.7 in bone stock trim gives the 3.5 everything it wants to handle up until about 1000ft mark where the 3.5 comes flying by because of it's superior HP numbers. But off the line the 2.7 actually pulls a little on the 3.5, it's kinda funny to watch. The 3.73 gears of the 2.7 give it a slight advantage off the line, along with being slightly lighter. But in the end the 3.5 comes screaming past on the top end.
I think the diff is in how does tunes these from the factory.... The 2.7 is factory tunes hotter so stock they are closer in performance until levelized via aftermarket tune. But if love to see numbers backing up what is just a theory. These engine are truly amazing in their power and efficiency. Really the whole ford line up. And if one want to see crazy good numbers- look at a supercharged 5.0 trapping what a better does.... Unbelievable!

Nice!. Interesting that you are running the 3.31 diff as well. i suspect it actually helps as you gate further along by taking full advantage of the torque from the 3.5 rather than just simply revving the nuts off like a 3.73 would do and which would be faster out of the gate

I wanted to get my new 15 updated to a SSI tune. I gave Shawn at SSI an email inquiring about it and was told it would be $175. I inquired about this as Livernois does it for free. This is what I was told.

Shawn @ SSI "You are kidding right? It's a whole different vehicle for gods sakes. Maybe you should go somewhere else"

My response: "Wow that's the type of professional response you send to a previous customer that has referred numerous people to you? I simply inquired because Livernois does it for free.
I have honestly never received a response like that from anyone I have ever done business with"

Shawn: "Livernois doesn't do it for free. You may want to see what our 91 octane street tune runs on our forums.
It will be $250 starting now and please don't compare my tunes to LMS dog****"

Just wanted to give anyone interested in SSI a heads up of the customer service Shawn offers. Called LMS and Anthony was great! Free update and great service.

Please give me the direct name & contact number of your tuner as I have A LOT of people that will stand in line to pay for a tune that will make a stock truck run low 13's.

Trying to get something for free just because someone else does it hardly warrants poor customer service. I wouldn't expect someone to sugar coat it to me.

Me: How much do you charge for X?
Them: I charge 30X
Me: Well Joe will do it for free.
Them: Ok, go to Joe or pay 30X.

People expecting a discount based on doing past business with someone is ridiculous. Not saying you did that exactly. However, expecting them to give you the "Oh I'm so sorry sir but I just can't do that as I have a business to maintain, and you see, when we give out free stuff we can't maintain our payroll and equipment." speech, then going on a public forum and bashing that person because you didn't get your way is childish.

You shouldn't expect a Hallmark card when you're told "No."

I was in no way expecting it for free. I was simply asking if it were full price to switch to a 15 as this is not standard from other companies. A simple explanation of it is a new vehicle tuning wise so we need to do more then a simple strategy swap would have sufficed.

I was instead replied to in a childish manner to go somewhere else. When I clarified that I was simply confirming I already purchased the tune and was just trying to transfer it to my new vehicle as you can with livernois or any OTB tunes from SCT etc I was told it would now be $250, livernois doesn't do it for free(which they do) and LMS tunes were dog****.

If that is the type of person you want tuning and supporting your vehicle that's fine. I prefer professionals who don't slander their competition or resort to unethical pricing practices when they are having a bad day.

Thanks

Oh and I wasn't told go to Joe or pay 30X. I was told go to Joe(which I gladly will from this point on) or pay an unethical above advertised price simply for inquiring about it.

Thanks man, didn't realize you dealt with SSI. I know several people that have gotten told to go "somewhere" by this company, seems like there's one in this thread (I don't know him). We'll stick with what we got now.

So what are the tuned 2.7 trucks running? Can those get into the low 14s or better?
Not sure about tuned 2.7 trucks, but Car&Driver ran a 14.3@95 mph with a bone stock 2.7L Super Cab 4X4 not sure what gear ratio it had though.I would think the original posters truck would run a 14.3 or better bone stock so the tune probably made about a second difference? They did say the truck was a second faster with the transfer case in 4X4!!!
