Angry Time to fight with the dealer.....2 CV boots torn

Brought my 2015 Lariat in for an oil change this morning and they come back and tell me that both axles need to be replaced (Torn CV boots). I had noticed a weird noise from the front left for a while now but the dealer couldn't duplicate that a couple of weeks ago. BAck then there was nothing wrong but now They are saying the ICON Stage I is what caused them to go. Good thing is the dealer has to prove the leveling kit caused them to go bad.

Got an appointment to get them swapped on Saturday. We'll see how this goes.

Your screwed. Leveling kits unfortunately cause problems like you list above. Unless the dealer installed the kit you are probably on the hook.

There are plenty of people that have level kits, coilovers and have had no issue. The issue comes from the install from what I have read. Sometimes the tech breaks the iwe, or tears the boots.

As you stated leveling kits cause problems.

Yes they can, but so can a lift kit. People have off-roaded with both and have no problems. Things break. Hopefully you will be fine once things are fixed. Good luck.

Unfortunately, from Ford's perspective, that is Immaterial and Irrelevant - whether the damage occurred during the install, or from use of the kit itself once installed.

Text excerpt from the Ford Warranty document:

• the installation or use of a non-Ford Motor Company part (other than
a certified emissions part) or any part (Ford or non-Ford) designed
for off-road use only installed after the vehicle leaves the control of
Ford Motor Company, if the installed part fails or causes a Ford part
to fail. Examples include, but are not limited to lift kits, oversized
tires, roll bars, cellular phones, alarm systems, automatic starting
systems and performance-enhancing powertrain components or
software and performance ‘‘chips’’.

They need no further proof to issue a denial, and you have no leg to stand on. You need to Own it.

BTW - there are also 'plenty of people' who HAVE had suspension/driveline and related components failed from a level/lift. Just a forum Search away. Hours and hours of reading.

Good luck with your grievance.

Cheers

The price of modding when you can't do your own work. You gotta pay to play. Good luck trying to get the dealer to cover it....

They are referring to installing a cellular phone. Car phones and boosters used to wire into the vehicle.
