Is there a way to lookup if an engine or transmission has been previously installed?

Long block replacement #1.......only lasted for a few days. Noticed power loss, engine lights, eating coolant, actually hydro-locked right at the dealer. After dismantling engine, the tech found the heads were not torqued properly. Some bolts were barely hand tight. Engine was running on a nice oil/coolant mix.
Long block #2.......the dealer wouldn't even give me the truck back. It had a good knocking sound from the bottom end. Con rod / piston issue
Long block # 3......ran OK
These were complete assemblies, valve covers, water pump, pan, etc. Only thing they had to install were the exh manifolds, intake and ignition parts.

Like man is there any quality control anymore?
Even out of parts the engines are no good.
I can see a guy getting disgusted pretty quickly.
