The plate mount has four plastic clips that grab on to the vertical bars. I removed the lower ones & that allowed me to slide the plate down. I tried removing it at the track but no noticeable difference in IATs so just leave it on now.
My XL came with a mounting plate right in the middle, and no gap for cooler. Should I be concerned that the intercooler isn't getting enough air, or is it different for XL models?

My truck is an XL with centre mount. The only reason I am looking to relocate is to allow cleaner airway for future mods. Some says it doesn't affect IATs, but for peace of mind until my mods start ramping up I want to move it.
I would say if you are leaving your truck stock there is absolutely no concern since that is the way that Ford designed it.
Hope this shows up ok. Btw, As far as I can tell, my shutters haven't closed. I guess conditions haven't got to that point, they may well do it this winter, even here in Kali.

Nice thank you. Unleashed Tuning is working on disabling the intercooler shutters only. Apparently they are independent of the radiator.
