Last I read about that is that it's a 5 cylinder Cummins motor. What surprised me though is that RAM turned that same motor down to go with the 3.0L VM motor, because the fuel mileage was so much better.

The 2016 Tundra will have the Cummings Diesel. The 2015 Nissan will also have the same Cummings Diesel. Those two were already announced. There is also talk that GM (Silverado) is looking at diesel as well. The Nissan Frontier and Chevy Colorado/Canyon will have a diesel next year for those who prefer smaller trucks.

Yeah, They apparently had 2 XLT's and sold the other before I got there. the Lariat I looked at was out in the valley at Kendall. They also have a Ruby Red Plat at Kendall, which (judging by the truck you have now) might be more up your alley.

Seekins here in Fbks supposedly has a King Ranch, but I havent seen it yet. I was down in Anchorage anyway to buy the fiance some furniture, so I tacked on looking for trucks so I had something to enjoy as well .

As I understood it, it was more directly related to Ram's bankruptcy than anything else. Back in '09, Ram was working with Nissan to have a rebadged Ram be released as the next gen Titan and they were both going to have the 5.0 cummins diesel as an option. When Ram went through bankruptcy, they dumped the cummins project (since they were now owned by Fiat who already had the 3.0L) and discontinued their partnership with Nissan (which is why it has taken forever for a new Titan-Nissan had to start from scratch). Nissan kept working on the project and consequently will now have the new motor. I havent heard it confirmed, but there have been rumors that the Tundra will have the same motor.

Thanks for the info. Toyota plus Cummins engine sounds like a pretty cool deal. Should be a good truck. May be pricey, though. Last time I truck shopped Ford was discounting $10k, but neither Toyota dealer would come off msrp very much. And one of those Toyota dealers was jointly owned with the Ford dealership where I bought the 4wd f150 screw for less than I could get the 4wd crew Tacoma next door.

Yeah, that sounds fairly normal to me. I am not sure why people would spend more up front to get a truck that will cost them more to operate while being less capable.
